The Wonder Stuff announce Christmas shows Sleigh The UK

The Wonder Stuff Christmas shows Sleigh The UK

The Wonder Stuff announce Christmas shows Sleigh The UK

The Wonder Stuff are back for Christmas, but this year they’ll be doing things a little differently. ‘Sleigh The UK’ has been as welcome during the festive season as a hot cup of mulled wine, but this December, the Stuffies return to play a handful of very special acoustic shows in London, Oxford, Birmingham and Newcastle. These performances will see Miles Hunt, Erica Nockalls and newest member Dan Donnelly play tracks from the length and breadth of the band’s extensive back catalogue.

Throughout the past 28 years, The Wonder Stuff have remained at the top of their game and play with more passion and attitude than most bands could dream of.  In recent years they have headlined festivals and toured the world, pleasing an army of loyal fans and welcoming new followers, captivated by the band’s charismatic live performance.

Frontman Miles Hunt explains: “Erica, Dan and myself just couldn't refuse the opportunity to come and have a seasonal ‘knees up’ with you. The three of us will be hitting the road in December, performing all of your favourite Wonder Stuff tunes acoustically.

The Wonder Stuff have had an amazing journey so far; seven albums, exciting spin-off projects and collaborations and now there’s even a book of Miles’ musings and a personal view of the band’s ups and downs between 1986-89. For full details, please visit: www.thewonderstuff.bigcartel.com.

So before you get sick of turkey (mince pies and your relatives), come and join The Wonder Stuff for some seriously good live music this Christmas.

Liverpool band Space reformed last December to play a sell out Christmas show at the 02 Academy. They head back to the venue on Friday 26 October as part of a national tour. The track Frightened Hoarse's is available now on download.  Their forthcoming album Attack of the Mutant 50ft Kebab will be out next year.

The line-up features original band members Tommy Scott (vocals/guitar)  and Franny Griffiths (keyboards). Along with Phil Hartley (double bass/bass), Ryan Clarke (vintage keys)
and drummer Allan Jones who will replace Andy Parle who sadly died in 2009 and Jamie Murphy (vocals/guitar) left the band due to musical differences.

The platinum selling band came to prominence in the mid 1990's with hit single such as Female of the Species, Neighbourhood, Avenging Angels, Me and you Verses the World and The Ballad of Tom Jones. They worked with Tom Jones in 1999 and Cerys Matthews a year earlier. The band formed in 1993 and released four studio albums, plus a number of charting singles, before disbanding in 2005.

Championed by BBC Introducing's Dave Monks, recording a one off sell out live gig at the Cavern Club for the BBC's Live Lounge Liverpool sessions, The Mono LP's are considered one of Liverpool's bright young things attracting a lot of attention and selling out venues all over the UK.

Headlining shows for Alan McGee's (Oasis, Creation Records) Death Disco night in the Notting Hill Art Club London and Liverpool, the band also played this year's Kendal Calling Festival. The band goes from strength to strength as they intend to release their first single, since signing a deal with Cavern Records, and embark on their first major tour. Vicky, from the band, has worked with The View and The Blood Red Shoes on their last two albums.

Edgar Jones, the former Stairs singer/Paul Weller bassist/Jones's frontman also joins the bill

Ian Mcnabb Liverpool Christmas shows & aftershow party

Ian Mcnabb Liverpool Christmas shows and aftershow partyr

LIVERPOOL SONGWRITING LEGEND GOES BACK TO SCHOOL
Ian Mcnabb Christmas shows & aftershow party

The sweetest guy in rock ‘n’ roll – a legend as far as I’m concerned – Alan McGee (Creation Records founder)

‘A pure energy musician – Billy Talbot (Crazy Horse)

‘He’s A Genius’ – Q Magazine

‘One of the best songwriters the city has ever produced’ – Stuart Maconie

To bring down the curtain on one of his busiest years to date, Liverpool songwriting legend and former Icicle Works frontman ian mcnabb returns to the site of his former school for two special concerts. Liverpool singer-songwriter Ian McNabb will be ending the year in style  by bringing his ’50 songs – The Music of Ian McNabb’show to the Capstone Theatre, Shaw Street, Liverpool on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 December 2011 priced £15. Tickets are available from: www.ianmcnabb.comTel: 0151 709 3789.

A special aftershow billed as Ian McNabb and Friends Christmas Show will take place on Saturday 10 December at Eric’s on Mathew Street. Entry is free to ticket holders from the Friday and Saturday theatre shows or £5 on door for non ticket holders. From 10 pm till 2 am.

The two concerts will consist of 25 songs each night with no two songs performed twice.  Ian has dug deep into his back catalogue to unearth some Icicle Works classics in addition to freshly minted gems and songs from his extensive back catalogue which will be presented in both electric and acoustic arrangements.

Ian says “I’m really looking forward to playing these shows.  The annual Christmas show is always a big thrill for me to do but this year is extra special as the venue is on the site of my old school, which will bring back quite a few memories.

These shows should be really special as I’ve dug deep into the archives to find some stuff that I haven’t played for a long time, if ever.  There will be the usual standards in there too and possibly a couple of tracks from the album that I’m currently working on at the moment.”

To mark this special event, anyone attending both nights will receive a complimentary CD containing an exclusiveMcNabb song plus the chance to win an exclusive McNabb show in their own home.

Ian McNabb is one of the finest singer-songwriters Britain has produced. Emerging from the 1980’s Liverpool music scene, Ian started a musical journey as songwriter, lead singer and guitar player with The Icicle Works which has taken on many twists and turns.  The initial run of hit singles with The Icicle Works (Love Is A Wonderful Colour, Birds Fly, When It All Comes Down, Evangeline, Understanding Jane, Little Girl Lost) has been followed by a distinguished and critically acclaimed solo career, including a Mercury Prize Nomination for the 1994 album ‘Head Like A Rock’ which was recorded with Neil Young’s band ‘Crazy Horse’.

Now in his third decade as a recording artist, Ian continues to write stunning songs with warmth, humour, cynicism and grandeur and continues to tour his unique electric–acoustic show to sold out audiences around the country.

Liverpool band Space reunite for hometown Christmas show

Liverpool band Space reunite for hometown Christmas show

LIVERPOOL band Space announced today they will reform to play a special hometown Christmas show, on Thursday 22 December at the 02 Academy Liverpool. Tickets are priced £12.50 and general on sale is Monday 14 November. Tickets are available from www.ticketweb.co.uk/  0844 477 2000.

The line-up will feature original band members Tommy Scott (vocals/bass), Jamie Murphy (vocals/guitar) and Franny Griffiths (keyboards). Along with Ryan Clarke (vintage keys) and drummer Allan Jones who will replace Andy Parle who sadly died in 2009.
"We can't wait to play Liverpool again as Space. I started to play the Space songs again this summer and started to get nostalgic about the band. I think a lot of it is down to timing, it just feels right to give it a go again" says Tommy Scott.
"I'm made up Space are back together because I was heading for a lengthy prison sentence the way I was going on! So once again Space have saved the day" adds Jamie Murphy.
The platinum selling band came to prominence in the mid 1990's with hit single such as Female of the Species, Neighbourhood, Avenging Angels, Me and you Verses the World and The Balllad of Tom Jones. They worked with Tom Jones in 1999 and Cerys Matthews a year earlier. The band formed in 1993 and released four studio albums, plus a number of charting singles, before disbanding in 2005.
Back in 1993, Tommy Scott and Andy Parle had been floating around their hometown of Liverpool for too long. Where the shadow of The Beatles still hung over every aspiring Liverpudlian musician, finding the personnel to translate the sound in Scott's head had proved a frustrating and fruitless task.
A teenage would-be guitarist Jamie Murphy was always around. A precocious musical talent and hive of hyperactivity, he'd always seemed too young to be involved. With a saying in mind "If you're big enough, you're old enough", the first time Scott saw him out in a local nightclub, he decided to give it a go. Murphy turned up to his first rehearsal in school uniform. Kraftwerk fanatic Franny Griffiths was the next to join the fold. The original line-up was complete. Space had been born.
Liverpool manager Mark Cowley has been with the band since their first gig and recorded the band’s first single If it’s Real on his own label Hug Records, with The Farm's Carl Hunter designing the Artwork. It was from this that Gut Records first discovered the band and started a sub label under the same name. "It’s exciting working with the boys again....it was crazy back then and it will crazier again next year" says Mark.
An initial low key single Money/Kill Me was released in November 1995, it left the shops as quickly as it had entered. They cut their live teeth around this time too, but it was the release of their first proper single Neighbourhood that really kicked things off for the band. It told the tale of Tommy's childhood street in Liverpool, but with serial killers and transvestites in starring role. This was pop music with a dark and sharp edge, a taste of things to come.
The second single Female of the Species was a bolt from the blue. Scott wrote this song for his late father, who had always hated his music. He wanted it to sound like a Burt Bacharach tune sung by Frank Sinatra. The results were wonderful. Female of the Species was an instant classic, staying in the UK top 40 for an amazing 3 months. It was this song that catapulted Space to a whole new audience. The debut album Spiders was a resounding critical success. Three sold out tours, three further Top 20 singles, Dark Clouds, a re-released Neighbourhood and the Top 10 hit Me and You Versus The World and some triumphant festival appearances followed.
Old acquaintance Dave Palmer, better known as Yorkie, joined the band in late 1997. After helping out with the album, Yorkie was asked to become the bands' full time bassist, allowing Tommy to concentrate on vocals.
Internationally, things began to happen for the band; already a massive hit in the UK Female of the Species also gained moderate airplay on college radio and MTV in America as well. With success comes touring, with touring comes stress. A tour of the US followed in mid-1997. Jamie, the youngest member of the band at only 21, found it all too much. He took a break, missing some live shows and TV appearances. The death of Palmer's mother, legendary Liverpool singer Gladys Palmer, also devastated the band.
Jamie returned for the recording of Space's second album Tin Planet. This was a darker, more song-led album than their debut. Scott's voice was at the fore, as the band mixed the classicism of his songs with Griffiths' keyboard backdrops, Murphy's energy and Parles' solid rhythms.
Tommy described Tin Planet as, "More darkness, but the songs were pure love songs. Our first songs used to be trying to be like Speedy Gonzales or Peter Lorre. Then it became more Marlene Dietrich."
In early 1998 after finishing Space's second album Tin Planet, drummer Andy Parle left. He was immediately replaced by Leon Caffrey.
In 2001, Space parted ways with Gut following certain issues with the label, including the constant postponing of their third album Love you More Than Football .  Jamie  Murphy decided to quit the band in early 2002. After a three year break from public attention, Space returned in 2004 to release Surburban  Rock  'N' Roll,  their first proper release of new material since Tin Planet.
In 2005 Space announced their decision to go their separate ways.

Elouise presents Christmas EP and announces UK tour 2012

Up and coming pop diva Elouise will release a Christmas collection of songs this November with a UK tour starting in February 2012. Working with Steve Anderson (Kylie Minogue/Westlife) and Terry Ronald (Girls Aloud/Dannii Minogue), Elouise has produced three festive songs for her  first ever Christmas EP. The release will coincide with a series of live shows at London’s world famous cabaret spot, Madame Jojo’s, in November and December.

Elouise said “Working with Steve Anderson and Terry Ronald was an absolute Christmas wish come true!”. Steve Anderson stated “These are big songs, and big shoes to fill. Elouise has put her own twist on all of them, and I couldn't be happier with the results."   Terry Ronald said " There's a couple of my favorite Christmas songs on here. Christmas, Baby Please Come Home is a great big, stomping classic, and Elouise does a fantastic rendition!"

The EP also features a disco anthem called Dear Santa  (Bring Me A Man This  Christmas) written by Paul Jaberra, the man behind Donna Summer’s Last Dance. Anderson said “Dear Santa reflects just how camp Christmas can be when a team of people like us get their hands on it. Not many people know the song, but as soon as we heard it, we knew it was a must for our Christmas EP." Ronald said, “I have to be honest, it's  one of the most complicated vocal arrangements I've ever been faced with, but it was well worth it.  It's disco-tastic!". Elouise concluded that “’Dear Santa’ will blow your Christmas stockings off!”.

After the release of Santa’s Little Belter and her Christmas shows at Madame Jojo's, Elouise will continue her ongoing project of recording her debut album with rehearsals for her first UK tour which will see her take her spectacle around the UK including the Swansea Grand Theatre in February ending in London in  April. Although details are yet to be confirmed, Elouise said ''The night includes epic torch ballads and show-stopping disco anthems.  I can't wait to take the sequin-spangled show on the road!"

“However tickets are selling fast as more acts are announced so make sure you don’t miss out!”

Jason Derulo has sold over one million singles in the UK alone and over 12 million singles across the globe in less than 12 months, as well as receiving over a 1/4 billion hits on You Tube!
