V Festival - Mark Ronson, Example, Scouting for Girls and more added to the line-up

V Festival, sponsored by Virgin Media, is proud to announce the addition of hit-maker Mark Ronson, performing a DJ set, Example supported by DJ Wire, Maverick Sabre, Scouting for Girls, Aston Merrygold, Bleachers and Billboard chart-topper Tove Lo to the 2015 bill.

Returning to V Festival following his 2014 appearance, Example said: “I can’t wait to return to V Festival, the crowds never disappoint. A lot of people will be used to my shows with the live band behind me, but this time I’ll be bringing DJ Wire as I want to put on a unique rave with a twist. I've been lucky enough to perform at festivals all over the world but there's always something special about V Festival - it feels like my home turf."

Maverick Sabre said: "It’s been a busy year and what better way to celebrate than playing at one of the best festivals in the UK. I’ll be dropping some new tunes so really looking forward to getting out there and sharing them with my fans.”

Aston Merrygold said: "I'm so excited to be performing at V Festival for the first time, it's going to be great fun! It has definitely been tough trying to contain myself, sitting on my hands waiting to get out there with new material, so I can't wait to finally share my music with everyone...bring it on!!!"

The newly announced acts will be joining a 20th anniversary line-up that includes Calvin Harris, Kasabian, Sam Smith, Stereophonics, George Ezra and Ellie Goulding. What’s more, the hottest names in music will be performing alongside an eclectic mix of comedy headliners including Russell Kane, Frankie Boyle, Shappi Khorsandi and Nick Helm, who will all take centre stage in the Glee Club Comedy Tent across the weekend.

In the coming months V Festival will announce additions to both music and comedy line-ups.

Singer, songwriter, producer, occasional rapper and all round king of the club banger Example, is set to release his brand new single ‘10 Million People’ on 5th October. The track has been taken from his top ten album ‘Live Life Living’ which is out now.

He said of the track: "10 Million People was written after watching a documentary on early 90's rave culture. I found this video online where they were interviewing people at an illegal rave. The guy with the microphone said to one of the revellers "surely this whole rave thing is just a fad". And the raver replied "well 10 million people can't be wrong". I wrote and produced the track in a day with Fraser T Smith. It's my favourite song on the album and feels timeless for me. Right at the last minute I went back in and added a rap at the start just like I did on last single 'One More Day'"

The live arena is where Example is a true master. Renowned for his monstrous live sets, he is set to once again transform venues across the country in to colossal party scenes. Announcing a tour taking him to 26 towns and cities later this year, he said: "I haven't covered the UK properly for such a long time. The last two arena tours were superb but we missed some corners of the UK and a lot of people can't travel hours to see a gig, especially on a week day. It’s a marathon tour, even for me but I've carefully chosen all the venues myself - some of which I've played in loads of time and others which I've never been to. Expect all the hits from the last 3 albums plus all the bangers and singles off album no.5 in a spectacular 90min show"

Example announces his Ultimate Weekender UK Tour

Renowned for his monstrous live sets at huge venues and the world’s biggest festivals, Example has a unique ability to transform dance floors into colossal party scenes in a matter of seconds.  Last year saw Example sell out a mammoth UK arena tour alongside headline festival appearances at the likes of Global Gathering and SW4 plus co-headline sets at Glastonbury, Rockness and Parklife. In 2014, Example is hitting the road again, armed and ready to bring the roof down in some of the UKs more intimate venues – 6 gigs, 3 cities, 1 weekend.

The Ultimate Weekender Tour see’s Example take it back to his roots.  Bringing the party to smaller, more intimate venues than the usual vast arena’s his fans are used to, Example is ready to shatter the dance floors of six of the UK’s best venues in London, Manchester and Glasgow.  Not content with performing his electrifying live set to fans, Example will immediately hotfoot it from the stage across town to host an after-party at a neighbouring venue to perform his infamous Ibiza show alongside DJ Wire and other special guest DJ’s into the early hours.

Support on the Ultimate Weekend Tour comes from the incredible 21-year-old Tampa Bay rapper, Dominique Young Unique. Dominque’s debut single ‘Throw It Down’ (released 6th April through Epic Records), sees her team up with hitmaker DJ Fresh, Benga and The Invisible Men, the result being an explosive concoction of tribal beats, an atomic bass line and razor sharp flows.

Example releases new single Kids Again

Last summer W.A.R! introduced an incredible mix of the most influential and exciting names in electronic music to the famous outdoor Rocks stage.  This year, W.A.R! will once again bring together an eclectic mix of electronic acts to showcase a diverse range of Bass and House at the Rocks Hotels for 16 weeks throughout summer.

The electric, early evening, outdoor shows will welcome back the formidable musical force that is internationally renowned producer Mark Ronson and the UK’s biggest tastemaker Zane Lowe.  The master DJ duo inspired W.A.R! and were crucial in making it a ‘must’ for electronic music lovers last year.  They will headline the W.A.R! closing party in Ibiza which also includes  Bondax – a duo that will blow up in a big way in the Balaerics this summer. These Lancaster lads incorporate elements of post-dubstep, RandB, and garage, to craft an intimate, electronic bliss. With tunes like “Baby I Got That” and “Just Us” this will be one super hot set.

Fans don’t need to wait for the closing party for the fun to begin - there’s plenty to come before then with special shows from Rudimental (DJ set), Redlight and Jacques Greene in Ibiza. Rocks Resident DJ supreme Doorly will be back on the White Isle too, not only captaining the brand new W.A.R! Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks announce Franz Ferdinand, Bastille and more

Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks guarantee hot weather, cool accommodation and 16 weeks of phenomenal live gigs under the Balearic stars.  Joining the already impressive summer line up are Bastille - the hottest new breakthrough act making their Rocks debut.  Chase and Status and Tinie Tempah - two of the defining artists of the past 5 years coming back with new albums and bigger shows plus one of the most important guitar bands of the decade, Franz Ferdinand. Four chart-topping exceptional live acts for back-to-back headline shows in the Balearics.

Bastille, fronted by UK singer/songwriter Dan Smith, just released debut album Bad Blood and went straight to the top of the UK album charts, with No.2 single Pompeii taking over the airwaves across Europe.  A ‘must see’ live act on the festival scene this summer, Rocks is delighted to have Bastille on the bill.  Support comes from hotly tipped and indefinable Bristol mob The Other Tribe.  Championed by both indie and electronic music lovers, the band cross musical boundaries and their illustrious new single Skirts is as infectious as their live set.

Bastille’s Dan Smith said: “We’re really looking forward to getting out to Ibiza and Mallorca for the first time. Being able to play a gig and then go to the beach will be a massive novelty, and it’ll be nice to see a bit of proper summer and try to head to some of the massive clubs as well. I hear the Rocks gigs are great and we've been told they throw a pretty decent party so it should be a lot of fun."
Having first smashed the charts with their killer hit Take Me Out and their self-titled debut album in 2002, Glasgow boys Franz Ferdinand are back, and Balearic bound. They’ve ticked off a Mercury Music Prize, BRIT Awards for Best British Group and Best British Rock Act, NME Awards, multiple Grammy Award nominations, sold over 3 million albums worldwide and are soon to release their hugely anticipated fourth studio album. This band were a huge influence on Ibiza Rocks, helping fuel the concept of promoting gigs for 'dance kids who rock and rock kids who dance.' Rocks is exceptionally proud to be bringing one of the world’s best live bands to make their debut on the famous open-air Rocks stage in Mallorca and Ibiza this summer.
Alex Kapranos said: “This is the first time we've been to Ibiza Rocks, so are looking forward to it. Paul's been and told us all about it, so we're expecting a great crowd there and Mallorca.”
Chase and Status are undoubtedly one of the most exciting and successful British bands of the past decade. Their double platinum, second album No More Idols sold over 600,000 copies in the UK alone and spawned over 2 million single sales. They were the biggest selling band in the UK in 2011, behind Coldplay, sold out tour after tour in the UK, Europe, US and Australia and played live at 36 festivals around the world last summer. Debut single Pass Out exploded around the globe and follow up tracks Frisky, Written in the Stars and Miami 2 Ibiza all had the same effect. Debut album Disc-Overy is still regarded as one of the most refreshing and confident UK debuts of all time.  Back to headline, live under the stars, Tinie Tempah is sure to showcase new material from his highly anticipated second album Demonstration and to put on a high-energy show packed with smash hits and more surprises.

Joining the line up are Zane Lowe, Mistajam, Baauer, Ms Dynamite, Shadowchild and Doorly.  

The newly announced acts join an already incredible line up that includes an exclusive W.A.R! residency with Example + DJ Wire plus four Rinse FM events with TNGHT, Katy B, So Solid Crew, Skepta and Oneman.

First up for the W.A.R! Opening Party at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel on Thursday 6th June are Mistajam, Baauer and Ms Dynamite. Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s Mistajam is widely praised for bridging the gap between the mainstream and specialist worlds, - a man on the same mission as W.A.R!  With his 1Xtra show hailed as ‘the key to the underground’ Mistajam will bring the freshest sounds in UK Bass and House music to the open-air, poolside stage at the Rocks Hotel.

Hailing from Philadelphia, DJ and Producer Baauer is in BIG demand right now.  As well as producing remixes for the likes of Nero and The Prodigy, Baauer’s own masterpieces have really made this man stand out.  Criticallly acclaimed single Harlem Shake caused a massive viral explosion resulting in thousands of youtube uploads per day and a subsequent No.1 US single. Now collaborating with hip-hop superproducer Just Blaze on the massive track Higher, the pair has just completed a joint tour. It will be a big night when Baauer hits up the Balearics for his debut at the W.A.R!  Opening Parties in June.

The UK’s very own Ms Dynamite will also take to the stage for this special show, bringing with her fresh material as well as all the huge hits that made her one of the most influential, successful and award winning British solo artists of the last decade. Her Mercury Music Prize was followed by BRIT and MOBO awards and Ms Dynamite was held up as an ambassador for a British riposte to US R&B. Now collaborating with younger stars like Labrinth on well-received singles and with an album lined up for next years, Ms Dynamite is back by popular demand following her electric live sets at W.A.R! last year.

Taking the helm for the W.A.R! Opening Party at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel is master of new music and long-term friend and champion of Ibiza Rocks, Zane Lowe.  Together with his partner in crime Mark Ronson, Zane was a huge driving force behind the launch of W.A.R! last year and is coming back to kick off another sun-soaked, electric summer.   Baauer will also be Ibiza bound for this special show, which includes the return of Rocks very own resident DJ turned global sensation Doorly.

Mistajam, Ms Dynamite and Doorly return to Ibiza on 28th June and will be joined by Shadow Child. Making his debut via the mighty Dirtybird early in 2012, mostly thanks to the EP's lead track String Thing dominating Eats Everything' and Claude Vonstroke's DJ sets the world over. This new alias for one of House music's already known names is on an exciting path, paved with underground bass-led grooves and all the quirks and depth that will fill the floor at W.A.R! this summer.

With a strong focus on supporting big headline acts as well as the freshest up and coming talent, the W.A.R! bill will keep building  - watch this space.

Radio City 96.7 Live 2011 Review @ Echo Arena Liverpool

 

Well it's that time of year again for Radio City 96.7 to take over Liverpool's Echo Arena for another music fest. This year they have brought us, Scouting For Girls, Example, Ne Yo and Tinchey Stryder to name but a few, well the most well known anyway.

This year it was hosted by Rossie, from the Breakfast Show, who introduced the dance troupe, who crunked away to Beyonce's "Crazy In Love", which went down a storm with the audience.

Opening the music tonight was Scouting For Girls, last years closing act, who didn't seem as full as energy during the first track, This Ain't A Love Song, but soon came back to the great entertainers we know by second track, "Heartbeat". Maybe it had something to do with lead singer, Roy Stride, shouting "The louder you sing, the better we sing" as it definitely worked as the arena was filled with vocals from the crowd as well, with new track, "Love How It Hurts" and "She's so Lovely" Scouting for Girls clawed it back and finished their set to well deserved massive applause.

Next up came Parade, yep, yet another girl group, who came strutting onto stage to a bass so loud you couldn't hear them sing, still not sure if this was good thing, but they're apparently supporting the Black Eyed Peas so their management must be doing something right anyway. Still don't understand why they were dressed like a female Village People though. Their music style is basically The Saturdays with a harder dance beat and more choreography.

Then came Mike Posner, who had to have the strangest singing voice ever. Imagine someone who inhaled helium a minute before going on stage and you get the general idea. The biggest scream for him came when he took his jacket off on stage to reveal................a plain black t-shirt!!! With another dance beat to his songs, I can see which way Radio City are going with there night.

This was followed by Liverpool's very own Chelsea Grimes, who I first saw on stage supporting Kof and I have to admit, the girl has talent, fantastic voice and stage presence for someone so young, it's just a shame they only let her perform one song, "On TV".

Next up came Example. I have to admit I've only heard one song of his but he was amazing. With "Kick Start" as the opener the crowd were bouncing along to his set from the get go. With fantastic crowd interaction and a sleek set, Example certainly knows how to please the crowd, especially with, "Changed the Way You Kiss Me", an 80's influenced track with bass so loud, the hair on my arms vibrated and with the entire audience bouncing as one you could actually feel the arena shake. Got to admit, he was definitely the best act of the night for me.

Flame haired Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud fame, performed her solo material and her new single, “Beat Of My Drum,” was well received by the capacity crowd.

American Electro hip-hop group LMFAO were on in the second half with Dry Ice covering everywhere and even giving away hundreds of luminous light sticks to the crowd in order for them to wave them about frantically.

And Ne-Yo. the Grammy award winner, closed the show with his chart topping hits including Beautiful Monster and Closer. 

All in all it was a fairly good night, especially if your 14 and love R&B/pop, but a word to the wise, there are different genres of music out there and I personally believe they should be recognised as well, maybe that was why Scouting For Girls looked slightly uncomfortable at the very beginning, they knew they were out of place in the line up. It would be nice to see a more rounded line up next time instead of just catering for one particular genre, go on Radio City break out the box and get some rock on there as well!!!

More acts announced for Radio City Live 2011

Radio City Live brings you Liverpool's biggest indoor music event of the summer. With Tinchy Stryder and Example already confirmed to hit the stage at Echo Arena on Friday 10th June the station has just added Chipmunk and Scouting for Girls to the line-up.

The latest additions to the line-up help soften the blow that orignal headline act Nicole Scherzinger pulled out of the event after being signed up to host the US version of the X-Factor with Steve Jones.

Tinchy Stryder
Last year saw East Londoner Kwasi Danqua, aka Tinchy Stryder deliver the biggest underground-crossover hit of 2010. The sensational “Game Over” featured a stellar array of the finest UK MC’s: Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example and Chipmunk. Tinchy Stryder has now reunited with multi-platinum selling N Dubz member Dappy on the new hotly anticipated single ‘Spaceship’ scheduled for release 13th June 2011.

Example
Elliot Gleave, better known by his stage name Example, made his breakthrough in September 2009, when he released Watch The Sun Come Up as the lead single from his second album Won't Go Quietly. The single debuted in the UK Chart Top 20. Example's biggest hit so far came with Kickstarts which peaked at number 3 in the UK Singles Chart and still sounds great today!

Chipmunk
UK hip hop star Chipmunk is set to play some of his biggest tracks. He has had a string of hits including the number one smash Oopsy Daisy from his debut album. He's just released his second album called Transition and is busy gigging up and down the country.

Scouting for Girls
Scouting For Girls are now one of the biggest pop bands in the UK with over a million record sales, 4 Brit nominations, 4 Top 10 singles and most recently a nomination for the highly prestigious Ivor Novello Award.

NE-YO
Neyo has sold over 8 million albums worldwide, written smash hits for Rihanna and Jennifer Hudson such as "Take A Bow" and "Spotlight", and had three UK number 1 singles including “Beautiful Monster".

LMFAO
The biggest band of the moment will rock the Echo Arena with the biggest song of the year so far ‘Party Rock Anthem’!

Mike Posner 
Mike Posner will jet in from the states to perform tracks including the smash hit single ‘Cooler Than Me’

Parade
The UK’s newest and most exciting girl band will join the party at the Echo Arena.  Their debut single ‘Louder’ was a top 10 hit in March.
