Three More Live Acts announced for Bestival's Desert Island Disco

Three More Live Acts announced for Bestival's Desert Island Disco

Three More Live Acts announced for Bestival's Desert Island Disco

The good times keep on rolling at Bestival HQ! Following the amazing news that Chic featuring Nile Rodgers will join OutKast, Foals and Beck as Bestival headliners and our frankly off the hook Port announcement with Sven Väth, Annie Mac Presents, Chase and Status and loads more class DJs, we have news of three brilliant acts bringing their dancing shoes to our Desert Island Disco this September 4th – 7th at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight.

Rob da Bank says: “Desert Island Disco seems to have lit up everyone’s imaginations with its mirrorball and palm tree vibes going down really well. So we though we'd add some disco divas and pure upfront house legends to the bill. Basement Jaxx did us the great honour of headlining the first ever Bestival way back when, so I'm doubly chuffed they're coming back to tear it up. Paloma played a few years back when she was just starting out and on the eve of her disco inspired album coming out we thought it'd be rude not to. And where do I start with Candi Staton? She may not have played Bestival before but her hits have been caned by DJs over the years. You Got The Love is surely gonna be one of those 'moments' at Bestival 2014. See you at the Disco”.

A stunning chanteuse and no mistake, Paloma Faith is the very definition of unique, so we are delighted that she will be joining us on Sunday night in the Big Top to close this year’s Bestival. With a brand new album, A Perfect Contradiction, due for release imminently, Paloma’s disco credentials are just about as good as they come and with her well know penchant for dressing up, she’s the perfect fit for a sassy climax to our Desert Island Disco.

Commenting on her Bestival appearance, Paloma Faith said: “Bestival is the best festival because everyone gets dressed up and I will be too, dressing my band up… It’s so perfect that I should be invited to play at this festival this year because my new album, which is called A Perfect Contradiction, was all influenced by the history of soul music, particularly disco. So, I was listening to artists like Candi Staton, Prince, Chaka Khan, Gloria Gaynor, all of those types of artists, Parliament, Funkadelic, the lot… It is my favourite festival without a doubt, I’m so excited, see you there!

No strangers to spanking a dancefloor, the Bestival crew are very pleased indeed to welcome back Basement Jaxx to Robin Hill. Headliners at the very first Bestival, we know for a fact that Basement Jaxx have got a truck load of tunes that will keep you reaching for the lasers long into the night. A full on live extravaganza, Felix, Simon and co always fail to disappoint with their hip swaying, booty shaking business, so don’t miss them!

Basement Jaxx’s Felix Buxton said “It was an honour and a pleasure to headline the very first Bestival - and we are very pleased to be back!"

Finally for now, it is a true honour to announce that one of the legends of gospel, disco and dance music, Candi Staton will be gracing our Desert Island Disco with her presence. With super-soulful tracks like Young Hearts Run Free, her amazing version of Stand By Your Man and, of course, You Got The Love, Candi’s voice has sound-tracked two generations of joyful good times and we can’t wait to bust our moves to her grooves.

There’s still plenty more to come, so for more vids, pics, words, links and all things Bestival check these out - www.Bestival.net / Facebook / Twitter / Tumblr and keep up with all the latest Desert Island Disco manoeuvres.

Paloma Faith releases new single Can’t Rely On You

Paloma Faith releases new single Can’t Rely On You

Paloma Faith releases new single Can’t Rely On You

The amazing PALOMA FAITH goes back to her soul roots with the release of her brand new single “Can’t Rely On You” on February 23 on RCA Records.

The single was written for Paloma by Pharrell Williams who also produced the track and appears on it as backing vocalist and singer of the impassioned line “I don’t know what this world is coming to”.

The pair met when Paloma attended the Met Ball at New York’s Metropolitan Museum and Pharrell approached her by singing her song ‘New York’ to her. He then took her ‘phone, put his number in and said ‘I’m ready to work’. She texted him whilst still at the ball to check if he was serious, he texted back to confirm that he was, and the pair recorded the track in Miami.

The song is the first to appear from Paloma’s forthcoming album “A Perfect Contradiction” which, like the single, shows a distinct return to her early soul-girl roots. Influences as diverse as classic Stax, Phil Spector, 1960’s girl groups, ‘70’s disco and early 1980’s soul come together on an album that is the most upbeat Paloma has ever made.

More details on the album to follow.

Paloma Faith and the Guy Barker Orchestra October Tour 2013

Paloma Faith and the Guy Barker Orchestra October Tour 2013

Paloma Faith and the Guy Barker Orchestra October Tour 2013

The Symphonic Grace tour will see Paloma Faith team up with 42-piece Guy Barker Orchestra to present full-blown orchestral arrangements of her own material intermingled with classic jazz ballads, backing singers and fabulous costumes, expect Paloma Faith at her most epic.

Guy and Paloma will reprise some of the material they have covered in the past, but will also include new orchestral arrangements of Paloma’s latest album, the Brit-nominated album, Fall to Grace, including the hits Picking Up The Pieces and 30 Minute Love Affair, as well as a few other surprises on the way.

Having worked with Paloma Faith on Jazz Voice and at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, led composer Guy into discussions about touring with her and Music Beyond Mainstream became the natural partner for the project.

Guy Barker said: “Paloma Faith is a truly remarkable artist and an amazing performer, loved by her fans and also a huge favourite with many other great artists.  So on this very special tour she with be collaborating with the dramatic forces of an orchestra made up of 42 world class musicians. The tour will feature specially arranged orchestral versions of songs from her highly acclaimed album Fall to Grace, plus many other songs. With the orchestra and her backing singers there will be a total of 46 people on stage. This promises to be a truly spectacular evening.”

The Symphonic Grace is yet another bold step in Paloma’s adventurous career.
Paloma said: “I’m so excited to performing with Guy again and looking forward to putting a new spin on the songs with the new orchestral arrangements.”

Paloma is proving to be one of the most innovative and creative female singers of her generation; never afraid to take risks or push boundaries. A captivating chanteuse, a rabble-rousing entertainer and theatrical fashion chameleon, her debut album, ‘Do You Want the Truth, or Something Beautiful?’ remains a glossy collection of retro-referencing soul and sassy pop.

From the off Paloma has always been meticulous in mapping the visual imagery to accompany her music, be they videos, photographs or set design. Ever the film fan, Faith looks on this second record as the union of her first two loves: film and music. It’s the soundtrack to her life. “I wanted it to be a homage to film, for everything to look and feel and sound like it was part of a movie.”

Of course where these songs, and Paloma Faith, truly come alive is onstage. It’s before an audience that every aspect of her vision is fully realised. It’s in the live delivery that Faith connects with her audience.

A lot of people write songs because they want to record them in a studio, they want put their feelings out there,” she says. “I don’t write songs for that reason: I write songs so I can perform them.”

The British trumpet maestro, arranger and composer Guy Barker was born in Chiswick, London, the son of an actress and a stuntman. His music is notable for its grace and invention and his original compositions confirm that he's a witty composer as well as a polished musical mind. As a sideman he has played with many major musicians, including Georgie Fame, Mike Westbrook, Frank Sinatra, Chris Hunter, Mike Oldfield, and Cleo Laine.

For the past five years he has opened the London Jazz Festival with his signature epoch-spanning celebration of singing and songJazz Voice - Celebrating A Century Of Song, in which his 42-piece orchestra has backed special guest vocalists. Past guests include Georgie Fame, Boy George, Kurt Elling, Sheila Jordan, Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith and Patti Austin.

T in the Park 2013 Saturday Review

T in the Park 2013 Saturday Review

T in the Park 2013 Saturday Review

It’s a very sunny shiny Saturday afternoon and we arrived at Balado Airfield for the 2nd day of T in the Parks 20th Anniversary thanks to the “very” Happy Bus Company, just in time to hear
the vocals of Scottish 80’s legends, Deacon Blue, performing “Real Gone Kid” on the main stage to a huge crowd, who looked like they were soaking up the the retro revival with great enthusiasm.

That feeling echoed across the entire arena along with fun and frivolity, partially to the fantastic weather but mainly due to the acts that were due to perform that day. The main buzz about the place seemed to be for Rhianna, I’m sorry if you’re a fan, but I really cannot see the big deal with this woman and from what I’ve gathered, she managed to mime her way through a fair bit of her set as dancing was more important and only perked up once she sung “Umbrella”……I’m still blaming her for the rain that descended on us that night because of that horrendous song!!

Thankfully, we went to see a firm favourite of ours, Mr Liam Gallagher, with his band “Beady Eye”. I have to admit, I didn’t think that Liam could get more nasally since his Oasis days, but he has managed it. It was a decent turn out for them, but the crowd only really perked up when he sung a few Oasis tracks, at least this gave him an opportunity to heckle them anyway, which they all loved. At least he didn’t get hit by urine this time!! And after they finished their set, he actually came down to the photo pit and went along the entire front row too shake everybody’s hands….i think we have growth from the man with the notorious mood swings. All in all it was a pretty damn good set, but there is still that something lacking in their songs…….Noel maybe!!

A few other high lights of Saturday was one quarter of Take That and festival virgin, Mark Owen, who gave an energetic performance in King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent. With his own back catalogue, including hit song “Clementine” and a few new ones and “Hold Up The Light” by Take That, he turned almost every woman, young and old into a giggling school girl. I have to say, out of all the acts I saw, he seemed to be right up there on the list of having the most fun.
The only person to top him for the fun stakes, was the cookiest woman in music, Paloma Faith, who took to the stage dressed in the most fantastic vintage dress and killer heels with a big travel mug full of tea!! You’ve got to just love this woman, if not for her amazing vocals but her huge  personality.

She had the entire crowd captivated for the full set, with people joining in with her songs, banter and dance moves, well jumping around a lot, but in those heels, it deserves a mention. She went from disco pop to soul, to a bit of INXS to Ella Fitzgerald, her main influence when she was growing up, and we have Ella to thank for Paloma’s self taught singing voice. So thank you Ella Fitzgerald for helping to give us this amazing performer, who to be honest made Saturday for me.

Paloma Faith captivates crowd at American Express Platinum Cashback Gig

Paloma Faith American Express Platinum Cashback Gig

Paloma Faith captivates crowd at American Express Platinum Cashback Gig

Platinum-selling recording artist Paloma Faith mesmerised the crowd at London’s Union Chapel as she played a beautiful live acoustic set at the first ever ‘American Express Platinum Cashback Gig’ last night, accompanied by a grand piano and a string quartet.

Returning to the venue, where she first played as an aspiring 14-year-old songstress, the flame haired singer performed 12 songs, mostly from her platinum selling album ‘Fall To Grace,’ including ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ and latest single ‘Just Be.’ Faith closed the set with fan favourite ‘Picking Up The Pieces,’ which was met with a standing ovation from the audience. After performing these songs across the UK on her recent tour, Faith wanted to treat fans to brand new arrangements of her popular hits which have never been heard before.

Paloma Faith says: “I wanted to do something special for the first ‘Platinum Cashback Gig’ so we took a bit of a risk and pulled in a classic string quartet and a beautiful old piano. I’ve never done this particular set up before, so that was an exciting challenge for me and tonight felt fantastic. Really special. I’m glad that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and I’m obviously thrilled that we are able to support War Child at such an important time.

Embracing her reputation for theatrical stage costume, Faith, who opened her set with ‘Let Your Love Walk In,’ took to the stage channelling Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s ‘Batman Returns.’ Draped in a backless, asymmetrical jumpsuit by Ashish that revealed her bird-in-flight tattoos, Faith looked every bit the Hollywood siren in black sequins crowned with a black patent headscarf. Paying tribute to the jazz divas that went before her, Faith seduced the audience with sweeping theatrical hand gestures and a well-received jazz arrangement of the Billie Holliday classic ‘God Bless The Child.’

American Express hosted the ‘Cashback Gig’ in celebration of the generous cashback rewards earned with its Platinum Cashback Card. All ticketholders who attended the sold out gig were given their ‘cashback’ on the £30 ticket price in the form of a £30 American Express Gift Card® which they could then choose to keep and spend on the things they enjoy or donate to international charity, War Child

The hotly tipped 18-year-old Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt supported Paloma Faith on stage with a set accompanied only by her guitar. The blonde chanteuse held the crowd in silent awe for a full half hour with her powerful Celtic vocals and unassuming stage presence. Nesbitt thanked the audience for listening so attentively to her self-penned songs.

Ben Knowles, Director of Fundraising at War Child says: “Donations like this are vital to securing the future of our work at War Child. We are thrilled to receive such a generous contribution from Paloma’s fans and hugely grateful to American Express for supporting us in this. Each £30 could help get one of the children we work with back to school for an entire year.”

Paloma Faith to play American Express Platinum Cashback Gig

First Ever ‘Cashback Gig’ at Union Chapel on Sunday 3 March 2013
Platinum-selling recording artist Paloma Faith will play a stripped back and acoustic set at the first ever ‘American Express Platinum Cashback Gig’ at the iconic Union Chapel in London on Sunday 3 March at 7pm.

In celebration of the generous cashback rewards earned with its Platinum Cashback Cards, American Express is staging this intimate show with a difference. All ticketholders attending the 750 capacity gig will be given their ‘cashback’ on the £30 ticket price in the form of a £30 American Express Gift Card® which they can then choose to keep or donate to international charity, War Child to help continue their work overseas.

The intimate gig comes in the middle of Paloma Faith’s  ‘Fall To Grace’ Tour and hot on the heels her second album, Fall To Grace, which secured her position among the leading British female vocalists. Fall To Grace was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry in late 2012, making it the singer’s second album to achieve the coveted platinum status. The album, preceded by Top 10 hit ‘Picking Up The Pieces,’ peaked at number 2 on the UK album chart and earned Faith two Brit Award nominations for British Female Solo Artist and British Album Of The Year.

Paloma Faith says: “I started out singing in cabaret clubs and believe there is no better way to connect with people through my music than performing live. The Platinum Cashback Gig is a really interesting concept from American Express and War Child plays such an important role making a real difference in the world today so hopefully we can make areal difference at Union Chapel.”

All money collected on the night, along with an additional £10,000 which American Express is donating, will help War Child continue its work of providing life-changing support to the most vulnerable children whose families, communities and schools have been torn apart by war. War Child’s projects deliver protection, education and a better future to children hit hardest by war.

Ben Knowles, Director of Fundraising at War Child says: “Music is crucial in helping War Child raise awareness of issues facing children in war and the money to do something about it. We are excited to be working with Paloma Faith and American Express as part of the Platinum Cashback Gig. Each £30 could help get one of the children we work with back to school for an entire year. That is a life-saving, life-changing impact – giving a child the hope and skills to build a better future for themselves. We’re looking forward to what promises to be a great night.”

Tickets for the American Express Platinum Cashback Gig will be on sale from Friday 22 February 2013 at ticketmaster.co.uk/cashbackgig. Tickets are available subject to availability and limited to 4 per person.

Evolution Festival returns with a stellar first wave of artists

Evolution Festival Newcastle Gateshead Quayside

Evolution Festival returns with a stellar first wave of artists

Evolution Festival returns to the North East with another outstanding line-up featuring the most influential and exciting names in popular music right now.  Evolution has been highly acclaiming for delivering fantastic line-ups at unbeatable prices and this year a host of amazing acts will perform for under £40 for the weekend.

Paloma Faith is the queen of retro soul and sassy pop and this this complete (and petite!) performer commands the stage with her rabble rousing shows.

Performing tracks from her two highly acclaimed albums ‘Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful’ and ‘Fall To Grace’ Paloma has been nominated for Best Female Solo Artist and Best British Album at the Brit Awards.

The Vaccines are arguably the best live band in the country and have been nominated as one of the best live acts at the Brit Awards.  The band are also shortlisted in the Best British Band and Best Album categories at the upcoming NME Awards.  Their ‘Come Of Age’ album entered the chart at number 1 and they continue to spearhead the UK’s garage / indie rock movement

Jake Bugg has taken the music world by storm over the last 12 months, seemingly appearing from nowhere to becoming one of the most acclaimed artists in the country.  His eponymous debut album reached number 1 in the charts and has been a permanent fixture in the top 10 ever since.  This 18 year old somehow manages to sound retro and yet absolutely modern and his set is sure to be one of the defining Evolution moments.

One of the UK’s most singular and compelling songwriters Ellie Goulding has found international acclaim with her albums ‘Lights’ and ‘Halcyon’.  Halcyon saw Ellie laying her emotions bare, a journey out of heartbreak and into hope.  Back on track her live performances earned rave reviews in 2012 and this is the first opportunity to catch Ellie at a festival in 2013.

Rudimental are the new drum and bass dons, tearing up clubs where ever they perform and this is a rare chance to catch them live as they bring the sound of the dance floor to Evolution.  Bastille have been cited as the most exciting thing to happen in indie for a long time.  Fronted by Dan Smith the band quietly built a fan base before releasing their debut album Bad Blood which has spawned a number of big radio records over the past few months.

London based duo, AlunaGeorge are the name on all the critics lips in 2013.  Having been together for barely a year, this talented duo’s infectious mixes are immersed in sweet harmonies and electronic charm.  Nominated for both the BBC Sound of 2013 and the Brits Critics Choice award, catch them at Evolution before they go stratospheric.

The Strypes are undoubtedly the hottest band in the world right now.  This four piece rhythm and blues band from Ireland viciously hammer out their no-nonsense blues repertoire and have already met with critical acclaim from greats such as Jeff Beck and Paul Weller for their outstanding live shows.  This is a must not miss performance at Evolution.

Headlining the dance stage are two of the most gargantuan names in electronic music Sub Focus and Modestep both of whom will be performing live.

Sub Focus is one of the superstars of bass music, a production obsessive whose attention to detail is matched only by the raw spectacle of his incredible live show.  A bone fide cross over artist Sub Focus is that rare thing in dance
music, someone who can keep one foot in the underground and still have credible radio hits all of which he will be performing for the Evolution crowd.

Modestep fused dubstep and electronic rock to devastating effect on their debut album ‘Evolution Theory’.  Their sound is a hybrid of heavy rock riffs, brutal synths and bludgeoning synth breaks, all connected together by soulful pop led vocal melodies.  Modestep slay audiences wherever they play.

Other acts confirmed for Evolution include the 21st century soul of rising local star Lulu James, Nas protégé Arlissa, the haunting acoustic indie and folk of Sunderland’s The Lake Poets, Grime superstar Lethal Bizzle, Radio 1 and 1xtra supremo MistaJam and drum and bass / breakstep overlord Zinc.

Loadstar, Delta Heavy, Dismantle, Decibel, Drenge, Bondax, Gorgon City, P Money, Chroma, Gentlemen Jonny,Eliza and the Bear and Rossi Noise will also perform and the North East finest music festival.

Evolution is a snapshot of everything that is vital in contemporary music right now and continues to strive to bring the best artists to the North East to perform in front of the UK’s most rapturous festival audience.  At £29.50 for a day ticketor £39.50 for the weekend, Evolution continues its tradition of providing an amazing show for an unbeatable price.

Evolution Festival promoter Jim Mawdsley comments’  'We have been working damned hard over the last few months to put together the strongest, most varied line up yet! As usual we are proud to have such a strong mix of today's heavy weights and future stars. The dance stage at Ballast Hills will be an even bigger draw this year and again we are producing all of this for the best value ticket in the UK Festival market. I for one can't wait!'

Kraftwerk announced for T in the Park 2013

Kraftwerk T in the Park 2013

Kraftwerk announced for T in the Park 2013

The Kinross countryside is set to light up with the epic soundscapes of electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk this July, when they make their debut at T in the Park. With Kraftwerk currently wowing audiences and critics alike with their run of hugely in-demand shows at Tate Modern (which have gained a slew of 5-star reviews), festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are thrilled to announce that they have joined the line-up for T in the Park’s 20th year, which takes place over 12th – 14th July.

The band remain at the cutting edge of contemporary music after over 40 years of musical experimentation. Celebrated for their ground-breaking albums including Autobahn, Trans-Europe Express, Radio-Activity, and the most recent Tour de France, their live shows are renowned for their exhilarating fusion of music, art and visuals. From their legendary Kling Klang studio in Düsseldorf, they arguably created the soundtrack for the digital age with their innovative looping techniques and computerised, robotic rhythms. Kraftwerk will make a welcome return to the UK for T in the Park’s 20th year in what will be their first ever performance at the festival, accompanied by the same stunning 3D visuals, animation and projections that have been wowing audiences at Tate Modern.

Geoff Ellis, Festival Director, said: “Kraftwerk are a truly seminal band. Their revolutionary sound altered the face of contemporary music, and paved the way for so many artists across so many musical genres. Autobahn was the first album I ever acquired and I witnessed them perform it live in its entirety at the Tate Modern last Wednesday when I was in the audience for the first of their run of shows there. They were absolutely amazing and I was blown away – it really was a life-affirming night. They are a massively influential group and an incredible live act, and we are hugely excited to welcome Kraftwerk to T in the Park for the first time this July, in what will be a very special moment in our 20th year celebrations.”

George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager, said: “Since we joined forces with DF Concerts as the founding partner of T in the Park in 1994, we’ve seen some the world’s finest artists perform at the festival. The festival continues to attract the very best in musical talent, and I’m sure Kraftwerk will treat fans to a memorable performance. Anticipation is already building for what is going to be a tremendous weekend and we’re very much looking forward to the 20th year event.”

Organisers are set to unveil yet more top acts for the T20th bill next week, with Kraftwerk joining a glittering array of already announced artists including headliners Mumford and Sons, Rihanna and The Killers, plus Emeli Sandé, The Script, Two Door Cinema Club, alt-J, Paloma Faith, Jake Bugg, Of Monsters and Men and Azealia Banks.

Experience the 20th year of T in the Park and join 85,000 music lovers per day as part of the best audience in the world. T in the Park 2013 tickets will go on sale on Friday 22nd February – go to www.tinthepark.com or www.ticketmaster.co.uk or call 08444 999 990.

Two Door Cinema Club and Azealia Banks join T in the Park Line up

Festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are excited to reveal that Two Door Cinema Club and Azealia Banks are heading to Kinross next July for the 20th year of T in the Park. They join a glittering array of acts announced by organisers earlier this week, with headliners Mumford and Sons, Rihanna and The Killers, plus The Script, alt-J, Paloma Faith, Jake Bugg and Of Monsters and Men already confirmed to play T in the Park’s 20th year edition over 12th – 14th July.

Since releasing their debut album Tourist History in 2010, Northern Irish trio Two Door Cinema Club have had a stratospheric rise to success. In the past year alone, they’ve headlined the NME Awards Tour 2012, released their critically acclaimed second album Beacon and frontman Alex Trimble has performed to a global audience of over a billion at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, after being specially invited by Danny Boyle to sing the vocals on Caliban’s Dream. They’re sure to deliver a stand-out set at T in the Park.

Azealia Banks became one of the most talked about new acts on the planet when she featured in the top 3 of the BBC’s prestigious Sound of 2012 poll and topped NME’s Cool List at the end of 2011. Now prepping her debut album, Azealia has been teasing her audience with gems like 212 – a certified club pleaser on rotation in dance floors around the globe – in addition to a slew of other records that showcase her range as an artist. Her T in the Park debut in July is hotly anticipated.

The latest additions to the T20 line-up come the day after Mumford and Sons – who were revealed as headliners by festival organisers on Tuesday – played a blistering set in Glasgow and received a phenomenal 6 Grammy nominations, including a nod for the prestigious Album of the Year award.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: “Two Door Cinema Club are one of the freshest, most exciting new acts around, and have had a phenomenal past year. One of the hottest new acts on the planet, Azealia Banks is a stunning live performer – I saw her at Coachella this year, then again in Glasgow and both times her set was incredible. We’re really delighted to be bringing both acts to Kinross this July.”

George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager said: “Here at Tennent’s, we’re extremely proud to have been involved with T in the Park since the very beginning as founding partner. With a fantastic selection of world class acts already confirmed for next year’s festival, the 20th year is going to be one of the best yet and I’m sure we’ll see some very special performances in Kinross next summer.”

MUMFORD & SONS AND RIHANNA TO HEADLINE T IN THE PARK’S 20TH YEAR

T IN THE PARK

MUMFORD AND SONS AND RIHANNA TO HEADLINE T IN THE PARK’S 20TH YEAR

T in the Park is gearing up for a spectacular 20th year celebration over 12th – 14th July 2013, and as an early Christmas present to the festival’s loyal fans, festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are thrilled to reveal that Mumford and Sons and Rihanna will headline T20, with The Script, alt-J, Paloma Faith, Jake Bugg and Of Monsters and Men also joining the bill.

T20 is already shaping up to be a truly stellar affair and an unmissable weekend, and music lovers don’t have to wait long before they can get their hands on the ultimate festival ticket of 2013 as a limited batch of T in the Park tickets will go on sale this Friday from 9am at 2012 prices.

Converting a whole new generation to folk-informed music with their five million selling debut release Sigh No More, Mumford and Sons returned in 2012 with its follow-up Babel - the number 1 album which has become the fastest selling album of the year in both the UK and US. A phenomenal live band, Mumford and Sons will headline T in the Park’s 20th year, with what promises to be a hotly anticipated performance.

Rihanna is currently dominating global charts with Diamonds - the fastest-rising single of her career to date, and the first single from UNAPOLOGETIC - her 7th studio album in just 7 years. The recipient of six Grammy Awards and seven Billboard Music Awards, Rihanna has sold over 37 million albums and 146 million digital tracks worldwide, and currently holds the record as the top-selling digital artist of all time.

The past four years have seen The Script sell a staggering four million albums, ten million singles and wrack up an incredible 100 million YouTube views. The Dublin trio make a welcome return to T in the Park since releasing their third album #3, which spawned the smash hit single Hall of Fame - the band’s biggest selling so far and their first UK Number 1.

alt-J were one of the hottest breakthrough acts on the T in the Park 2012 bill, and the quartet became a household name earlier this month when their debut album An Awesome Wave scooped the prestigious Mercury Music Prize. Their sophisticated, sublime songwriting talent has earned them rave reviews and an army of admirers, and their T20 set is not to be missed.

alt-J said: "It's an absolute honour to be invited back to play at Scotland's biggest and best music festival - WE CAN'T WAIT!"

A captivating chanteuse and theatrical performer, Paloma Faith’s sassy, retro soul-pop blend will add a touch of vintage glamour to the T20 bill. The huge success of her platinum-selling debut album Do You Want the Truth, or Something Beautiful? earned her a Brit award nomination, and she released its follow-up Fall To Grace earlier this year to yet more critical acclaim.

Jake Bugg became the youngest British male to debut at number one when his self-titled album was released earlier this year. The 18 year-old from Nottingham counts The Stone Roses and Noel Gallagher amongst his many fans (and joined Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on their US tour in October), and is one of the most exciting singer-songwriters to emerge from the UK scene in recent years.

Since Of Monsters and Men hit number 1 in their native Iceland with smash-hit single Little Talks, they’ve dominated airwaves across the globe with their infectious, majestic folk-pop. One of the biggest breakthrough acts of 2012, they’re not to be missed at T in the Park.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: “Seems like only yesterday that the first band took to the stage at Strathclyde Park for our inaugural T in the Park in 94, now here we are in 2012 announcing 2 of the of the world’s biggest and best acts to headline our 20th edition. We have always worked incredibly hard to bring our T in the Park fans the best line-up possible, and this year is no exception. We are unbelievably excited that Mumford & Sons and Rihanna will be taking to the Main Stage in Kinross as we are sure our audience will be. We have many more fantastic acts in store for everyone and will announce these next year, but it’s shaping up to be one hell of celebration.”

George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager said: “From a meeting of minds back in ‘93, to the first festival for 17,000 Scottish music fans in ‘94, to today - standing at the brink of the 20th year. It’s been an incredible journey for Tennent’s as founding partner in this amazing festival and we are exceptionally proud to have put the T in T in the Park for the past 20 years. Since the first outing in ’94, Tennent’s’ passion for and commitment to the festival has remained constant, as has our unswerving support for music through incredibly important initiatives such as T Break, supporting the very best in new music across Scotland.”

Celebrate 20 years of musical memories and experience the 20th year of T in the Park. A limited number of T in the Park 2013 tickets will be available at 2012 prices at 9am on Friday 7th December – go to www.tinthepark.com or www.ticketmaster.co.uk or call 08444 999 990.

Top British Comedian Russell Kane returns to Larmer Tree Festival

With one week to go until the gates open for Larmer Tree Festival 2012, the team is thrilled to announce that Russell Kane will be returning to headline the Comedy Club in the ARC on Thursday evening.  Back by popular demand, Russell was a huge hit with festival-goers when he topped the comedy bill at last year’s festival, headlining Friday night.

Russell is replacing Greg Davies as the ARC comedy headliner on Thursday night’s line-up.  Greg has sadly had to pull out of performing at the festival due to overrunning TV commitments. Greg said: “I was really looking forward to Larmer Tree and this pesky TV business has got in the way. I am genuinely sorry I won’t be there and I hope I can make amends next year. Have a great festival.”

Larmer Tree Festival Co-Director Julia Safe said:  “It’s a real shame that Greg now can’t make it but we’re very excited to welcome Russell back to the gardens and extremely pleased that he was able to sneak us into his very busy schedule.  He won lots of fans at Larmer Tree last year, so this will be a great opportunity for those that saw him to witness his fast, breathless and wild act again and those that didn’t, a chance to see him - we’re sure he’ll go down a storm!”

A multi-talented writer and performer, Russell Kane has firmly established himself as one of the best comics in the UK today, winning the prestigious Fosters 2010 Edinburgh Comedy Award and Barry Award 2011.  With his trademark yellow badger strip quiff and skinny jeans Russell has been a familiar face on TV since his breakthrough in 2007.  He can currently be seen on our screens in two new shows: Live At The Electric on BBC 3 every Thursday and Britain Unzipped which he co-hosts with Greg James, also on BBC 3.  2011 was also a prolific year for Russell: he rejoined ITV2’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here presenting team, presented Freak Like Me, a six part series for BBC 3, and made an acclaimed appearance on BBC 1’s flagship live comedy show Live at the Apollo.  As if this isn’t enough, he’s also found time to become a novelist since his last visit to Larmer Tree, publishing his debut book The Humorist in April.

Russell joins an all-star comedic line-up headed up by Tim Minchin on the Main Stage on Thursday evening.  Other headliners guaranteed to have audiences in stitches are Milton Jones, Stephen K Amos and The Horne Section.  The festival’s superb music headliners are Paloma Faith, Jools Holland, Amadou and Mariam, Levellers and Roots Manuva.

There’s also a packed programme of entertainment, must see and do highlights include: an offsite adventure to see the award winning play Allotment by Nutshell Theatre, Big Top theme nights - White Mink Speakeasy and Bollywood Nights, a Cajun Breakfast Dance, Mark Kermode’s Film Club, an MS Society charity auction, bespoke fairy tale theatre Vasalisa and the Peacock performed high up in the trees of Lostwood, Salisbury Arts Centre’s Media Dreamspace, and a Vintage Tea Dance, plus much, much more.

All of this is on top of the fantastic workshops and shows dedicated specifically for adults, youths, children and there’s even an under 5s activity programme.

All ticket types are still on sale but some are very close to selling out so festival-goers who missed out on seeing Russell last year had better get their tickets quick to avoid disappointment.  For more info and to book tickets visit www.larmertreefestival.co.uk.
