Son Of Eagle SW Tour Dates + FREE DOWNLOAD

Son Of Eagle SW Tour Dates and Free download

A busy start to the year is indeed in-store for this promising fivesome as February also gives way to a very special Southwest England tour with Megan Henwood (BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Act Of The Year). Next month, Son Of Eagle will release their second EP to the masses in anticipation of their second full-length release, to be recorded in the beautiful and historic setting of Zurich, Switzerland in March. Release date is still to be announced.

In December, Never Enough Notes made a video of them playing at London's Troubadour in Earls Court...it's a bit of an interview and a bit of live...have a lookysee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ux-4G3gSbE

Last year, Son Of Eagle returned to their intimate practice space that is vocalist Benjamin’s spare room to record their first EP ‘Take Me Back’, a creation that encompasses the closeness of the band particularly through being recorded on a single microphone. Indeed, this closeness is reflected in the band’s bond and their charismatic live shows. The future looks bright for Son Of Eagle. In 2011 the band featured on BBC Introducing as well as a number of local BBC stations and received acclaim for numerous festival slots and from the press.

Beautiful harmonies build from bittersweet strings and sparkling guitar accompaniment give way to deep heartfelt lyrics, finely layered through Ben’s perfect vocal. Every song differentiates from the next, demonstrating the beauty of Son Of Eagle’s breadth and exploration of their own sound whilst nestling gently among contemporaries such as Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.

The band came to be in 2009 when vocalist Benjamin Edmonds toyed around in his bedroom, jamming with friend Dean Collier. Liking what was created, Son Of Eagle was born and viola-player Sarah Lloyd joined to make a three. They began playing beyond the confines of Ben’s bedroom at a plethora of well-received local gigs. Bassist Phil Thompson and drummer Liam Walker were added to the line-up (Liam was plucked onto the stage at a gig and remained in the band ever since) and it is this organic growth that has contributed to the levelled music that Son Of Eagle create.

Not forcing music upon themselves as a quintet with a purpose, Son Of Eagle are a collective in the truest sense. The band are signed to Expat Records and Bucks Music Group, the very same publisher that gave us The Rolling Stones and Simple Minds and continue to create beautiful yet very current folk.

Show and Tell by Never Enough Notes at London's Troubadour

Show and Tell by Never Enough Notes at London's Troubadour

Never Enough Notes' Show And Tell to curate show this Sunday 2nd December at London's Troubadour

Son Of Eagle, Felix Fables, Paper Aeroplanes and Pete Du Pon

E-zine Never Enough Notes is taking a journey into the real world with the introduction of another one of our live music nights to highlight the launch of our revamped Radar section, Show & Tell. The forward-thinking website will be showcasing the best and most interesting of the new music uncovered so far in the historic venue that is The Troubadour in Earls Court where many greats have played including Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Sammy Davis Jnr, making Show & Tell’s gig a perfect fit on the footstool to some amazing careers past, present and future.

At Sunday's event you can expect you a modern folk extravaganza with different takes on this revival genre that’s been re-energised by the likes of Mumford and Sons, Laura Marling and Stornaway. Catch Derby fivesome Son of Eagle as they perform tunes from their recently released debut album ‘From The Ground’ now available for purchase on iTunes. Featured already on BBC Introducing, we’re sure that great things are set for them in 2012.
We’ll also be welcoming the honey-sweet sounds of Paper Aeroplanes as they come back from their UK tour with tracks from their latest EP ‘A Comfortable Sleep’. With an already impressive following and support from many if you haven’t heard them yet, shame on you! Make sure you’re there!

Also bringing tracks from their self-released debut album ‘In This Town’ released only two weeks ago, are Guildford band Felix Fables whose ‘hard-hitting folk ‘n’ roll’ has been an evolution of their sound well worth the journey. And last but not least, joining NEN for the night is Gibson Guitar-sponsored artist Pete Du Pon, a formidable talent whose debut album ‘If We Only Had Time’ has already picked up accliam from many.

Son Of Eagle release their debut album From The Ground

Son Of Eagle release their debut album From The Ground

Son Of Eagle have released their debut album From The Ground to much acclaim. The band's stripped-back music echoes back to the basics of folk - of nature, of dreams, streams and campfires but still has a prominent place in the now. 2011 has been an extraordinary year for the Derbyshire-based musicians, having been featured on BBC Cambridge and BBC Shropshire, as well as receiving much credit through national press, festival appearances, and the blogosphere. They've also played alongside Passenger among others, and have been heavily featured on BBC Introducing.

The band are one that has grown organically, and this both respected, celebrated and embedded in the music that the band make. Time taken and pride in one's work are key to Son Of Eagle's focus, and their beautifully-recorded tracks bore from nights spent in vocalist Ben's spare room are testament to this.

Stunning viola and elegantly sublime vocals are core to Son Of Eagle's songs, comparable to the likes of Bon Iver and Ray Lamontagne. The future looks bright for the quartet and From The Ground is a perfect creative journey from beginning to end. Indeed, 2012 is set to be their best year yet.

Son Of Eagle to curate music event at Derby Guildhall Theatre

Son Of Eagle to curate music event at Derby Guildhall Theatre

Friday 2nd December

“Derbyshire music fans have the chance to catch a high-flying band, before they really take off.”
The Derbyshire Times

Tickets: Derby Assembly Rooms Box Office:  01332 255 800

Derby band Son Of Eagle have built up quite the local following and although well-known throughout the British musosphere, they’re staying true to their roots and curating a special event at the historical Derby Guildhall Theatre on Friday 2nd December.

Son Of Eagle are indeed a band of humble origin, having grown organically since its dawn in Ben Edmonds’ bedroom. They’ve built up quite the local following with their beautiful heartfelt melodies and putting on their own Derby show is the perfect fit in the jigsaw. The classic and prestigious Guildhall which has had an unusual past has now come to be used as a theatre.

Supporting Son Of Eagle at their foray into events are Boat To Row and The Fontana Instincts, with MORE ACTS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON.
Boat To Row
Folk collective Boat to Row, Captained by Michael King have cast off as a five piece, coupling a rare sense of genuine ease in each other’s musical company with a fresh, energetic sound. Boat to Row have navigated the shores of the UK this past year, gracing stages at Dot-to-Dot, Truck, Wood, Moseley Folk and Gloucester Underground Festivals as well as supporting the likes of Willy Mason, The Acorn, Johnny Flynn and Slow Club with their warmth.

The Fontana Instincts
Fronted by Derby singer songwriter Tom Campbell, The Fontana Instincts initially formed to be Campbells studio backing band. The Instincts reformed in July 2010 to play a handful of gigs and have been going since. Although combining various genres in their songs, an alternative country rock band might describe them best although their experimental, psychedelic live shows are much fun: they often improvise and perform spontaneous jams in-between the songs in their set.
