Robert Cray unveils Nothin But Love album

Five-time Grammy award winning legend and Blues Hall of Fame Inductee ROBERT CRAY is pleased to announce that his brand new studio album “Nothin But Love” will be released in the UK by Provogue Records on Monday August 27th.

Produced by Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes), the 10-song album was written by all four Robert Cray Band members; Robert Cray (vocals/guitar), Jim Pugh (keyboards), Cray band co-founder Richard Cousins (bass) and Tony Braunagel (drums). The new album blends blues, rock, soul and jazz, with a lyric-sheet that examines the triumphs, fallouts and follies of love.

Robert Cray will be available for face to face interviews in London on Wednesday June 27th, following his concert the Shepherds Bush Empire the night before (part of the London Blues Festival).

“Nothin But Love” is Cray’s 16th studio album and marks the latest milestone in a career that has produced 15 Grammy award nominations (5 wins), over 12 million record sales worldwide, thousands of sold out concerts across the globe, and his own signature line of Fender guitars. Since the release of his 1986 break-out album “Strong Persuader”, Cray has performed and recorded alongside Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bonnie Raitt and John Lee Hooker.  Cray was recently inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57; making him the youngest living legend to receive the prestigious honour.

Mr C Huxtable releases single Broadway

Mr C Huxtable releases single Broadway

UK based recording artist Mr C Huxtable continues his independent global takeover with the release of 'Broadway' - a Nutty P produced, dancehall styled anthem ripe for international airplay this summer.

Mr C Huxtable, real name Craig Huxtable, may not be a name you have heard of before, but as part of the new breed of British, unsigned music entrepreneurs he has sold over 100,000 CDs via completely independent distribution channels. Raised in Tooting, London (next to St Benedict’s Estate), Mr Huxtable knew he was born to stand out amongst the crowd from a young age, finding solace in skateboarding, rollerblading and eventually music. Little did he know that these adolescent interests would form the backbone of his enterprise in later years - at the time they were just outputs to express himself.

Growing up around his uncle’s sound systems and his late aunties pubs, he was heavily influenced by their love for music and their business ethics. Mr Huxtable soon began recording and performing his own music, and took inspiration from the likes of James Brown, Busta Rhymes, Michael Jackson, Sting, Donald Byrd, George Duke, SuperCat, NinjaMan, Junior Demus, Big L, Slick Rick, Ludacris and Jay Z, and watching stage shows like SunSplash and Sting in both his musical and lifestyle directions. In similarity to the Jay Z, he does not write his lyrics down, preferring to record demos into a dictaphone to be used at a later date, or freestyling them altogether in the studio. This is because Mr Huxtable is Dyslexic - a disability which he chooses to embrace rather than let hinder.

Mr Huxtable soon turned his attentions to recording his debut album alongside long time collaborator Nutty P. The project, titled 'Own 2 Feet' is due for release later this year. In the meantime, Mr Huxtable has released his promotional 'Own 2 Feet' EP, which features 7 tracks from the forthcoming album and is hosted by distinguished BBC 1xtra DJ / Universal Music consultant CJ Beatz. Known as ‘The True Definition of Unsigned Hype’, Mr Huxtable sold over 10,000 copies of the EP within 3 months of it's release, and has gone on to sell a staggering 100,000 across the UK without any label, PR or marketing support outside of his close knit, independent team.

'Broadway' is the latest single release from Mr Huxtable, and sees him deliver a flawlessly energetic vocal performance about his hometown of Tooting Broadway. Featuring bass heavy, dancehall themed production from Nutty P, the single is a heavy hitting anthem destined to induce head nodding in fans of hip hop, ragga and pop alike. The single is accompanied by a fantastic visual courtesy of director Masood Tahir (executive director Mr Craig Huxtable), featuring clips from some of Mr Huxtable's infamously animated live performances.

Mr Huxtable is currently busy lining up tours, performances & college / university visits for inspirational and motivational talks to youths, a project which is extremely close to his heart. He is also overseeing the growth of his clothing / skateboard company ‘Strictly Sk8z’, which is yet another important element in Mr C Huxtable Enterprises.

Parv releases his brand new mixtape IDKWTCTM Vol 1

21 year old recording artist Parv stakes his claim as one of 2012's most exciting British newcomers with the release of his brand new mixtape 'IDKWTCTM Vol 1'.

Born and raised in Portsmouth, UK, Parv spent a majority of his teenage years honing his skills as a rapper, singer, producer and all round musical mogul. In 2010 he signed to budding hip hop label 'De Facto Entertainment' - a deal which gave the young artist his first step up into the international music scene. During his time with 'De Facto' he recorded diligently with label CEO and record producer Stealf, and is due to feature on the forthcoming 'I Am Stealf' LP alongside the likes of Jadakiss, Joell Ortiz and H.O.O.D Fellaz.

Having now left the label, Parv is set on his own independent path to create the music he truly loves writing. At a time when every man and his dog claim to merge and amalgamate genres, Parv really does it. And he does it well. With his brand new mixtape offering, Parv delivers 16 refreshingly original tracks, dipping into a collection of classic hip hop instrumentals and serving up some accomplished production of his own. Never afraid to break out of pigeon holes, the south coast rapper flips the concept of a hip hop mixtape on it's head, presenting one of the most interesting official debut long players you're ever likely to hear from a British recording artist.

YOG release new album Half the Sky

YOG release new album Half the Sky

Beware : YOG's new album is out ! So if you are looking for the eradication of all living creatures before the end of this year, you have to drop yourself on"Half the sky". This "bullet in the head" by our beloved swiss grinder-math-metal terrorists is currently available through Division Records (ASIDEFROMADAY, Dirge, Unfold, Lost Sphere Project...).
Extreme virulence, sick blast beats, mentally ill math-grind, YOG is for the Swiss scene what the panzer was for battlefields : a pure war machine. After the release of their savage 1st album entitled "Years of nowhere" in 2007, these Swiss bastards have destroyed a lot of stages across Europe with bands like Today is the Day, Genghis Tron, Gojira, Knut, Burnt By the Sun‚...!
Keeping the will to dive beyond the fury and velocity limits, the band has given birth to a new monster, recorded by Jérôme Pellegrini at studio du Terrier and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side studio YOG's new album is proudly going to make a lot of ears bleed to death.

Son Of Eagle release their debut album From The Ground

Son Of Eagle release their debut album From The Ground

Son Of Eagle have released their debut album From The Ground to much acclaim. The band's stripped-back music echoes back to the basics of folk - of nature, of dreams, streams and campfires but still has a prominent place in the now. 2011 has been an extraordinary year for the Derbyshire-based musicians, having been featured on BBC Cambridge and BBC Shropshire, as well as receiving much credit through national press, festival appearances, and the blogosphere. They've also played alongside Passenger among others, and have been heavily featured on BBC Introducing.

The band are one that has grown organically, and this both respected, celebrated and embedded in the music that the band make. Time taken and pride in one's work are key to Son Of Eagle's focus, and their beautifully-recorded tracks bore from nights spent in vocalist Ben's spare room are testament to this.

Stunning viola and elegantly sublime vocals are core to Son Of Eagle's songs, comparable to the likes of Bon Iver and Ray Lamontagne. The future looks bright for the quartet and From The Ground is a perfect creative journey from beginning to end. Indeed, 2012 is set to be their best year yet.

Tour dates: (guestlist places available)
Nov 17th - The Shoreditch, London
Nov 24th - Bodega, Nottingham (w/ Marcus Foster)
Dec 2nd - Derby Guildhall (headline show, w/ Boat To Row, Fontana Instincts and Jo Lewis)

Kate McGill - First Ever Full Band Show at The Borderline London

The lead single, also named Replaced, draws inspiration from artists such as Ellie Goulding and Bon Iver. Replaced’s ambient blend of acoustic guitars and synths highlights the frailty of Kate’s vocal. Explaining the meaning behind the song, Kate says, “On the day it was written, a friend had told me about something my ex-boyfriend had said about me, and I remember being completely bewildered by it as it sounded nothing like him.” This realisation led to Kate creating a song that will reach the hearts of anyone who has seen someone change for the worse.

Kate is a worldwide success on Youtube: she has over 132,000 subscribers to her channel, and has received over 23,000,000 views – all since November 2007. In addition to this, the single Replaced has recently received airplay on Radio 2, with Janice Long airing it on her midweek show, as well recently been added to Q radio playlist.

In an unusual move, hard-copies of a 7 track CD titled Replaced will be available exclusively from Caffè Nero stores across the country. The CD is accompanied by a book which gives listeners insight into Kate’s emergence onto the scene and her rise in popularity. The release of the CD will be accompanied by Café Nero tour , which includes: 34 stores between the 26th September and 20th October and promises to be an intimate affair for her fans. The album will also be available digitally via iTunes.

WAYLAYERS RELEASE THEIR DEBUT SINGLE ‘HEAR NO LIES’

Formed in mid-2010, London-based trio Waylayers immediately set about crafting stunning atmospheric pop, fusing elements of electronica and indie rock with ethereal and melodious vocal lines and hooks.  They instantaneously caught the attention of the legendarySteve Lamacq who has already touted them as ‘unsigned band of the week’ on his 6music show.  This buzz led them to the door of producer Ewan Pearson (Delphic) who straight away saw the band’s ability to create songs shot through with an effortless pop-nous.

Teen sensation Hatty Keane releases double A-side Best Kept Secret/ Electricity

Teen sensation Hatty Keane releases double A-side ‘Best Kept Secret’/ ‘Electricity’
12 September 2011 – BGM/Future Music
Storming out of a little corner of Cheshire comes Hatty Keane, winner of Open Mic UK 2010. 16 year old Hatty releases her debut single, the angsty pop ‘Best Kept Secret’ on 12thSeptember on BGM/Future Music; a double A-side release featuring the catchy club track ‘Electricity’.
Singing from an early age around her home in Macclesfield, Greater Manchester, it wasn’t long before the young Harriet decided that singing and performing was what she wanted to do with her like. Entering popular national music competition ‘Open Mic 2010’propelled her into the spotlight where she battled through auditions, regional finals and area finals to the National grand final in London. Winning over judges including BBC Radio 1 DJ Rass Kwame and MOBO award winning singer Shola Ama, Hatty won her age category, came second in the competition out of 9,000 acts and performed in front of a 2,000 strong crowd at the 02 arena.
Since her signing to Future Music and BGM, on February 2011, Hatty has been putting together material for her debut album and has already had songs penned for her by the likes of veteran songwriters Bridget Kelly (Roc Nation), Deekay (JLS), Laurence Hobbs (Pixie Lott), and  John Scott (Beyonce and Chris Brown). She premiered her first promo single ‘Heart Fail’ in April 2011.
Counting Taio Cruz and Dane Bowers amongst her fans, Hatty performed alongside Tinchy Stryder and NDUBZ at music event LiveFest in July and presents an award at Prince Harry’s Well Child Awards later this month alongside singer Pixie Lott.

Sharp Knees unveil Monster Mountain album details

Sharp Knees, following on from their single release, ‘Don’t Leave Me’, are pleased to announce they have completed a stint in the studio and that album number two, ‘Monster Mountain’, will bereleased on the 11th November 2011.

‘Monster Mountain’ is the follow-up album to the 2010 fan-favourite, ‘Certain Rules’, and was produced once again by Sharp Knees’ vocalist, Sam Bennett. The band took to a remote cottage in

Capel Gwynfe, Wales, in order to self-produce the highly anticipated record.

Sam explains, "The new album is a lot more involved and adventurous whereas, previous records have seen us focusing on our trademark indie-pop sound. This record has us completely ignoring those rules that we set for ourselves. It means that each of the tracks has a completely different feel and, we hope, that it keeps the listener guessing”. The Nottingham based act formed back in late-2009 with Sam Bennett (Vocals/Guitar), Shane Egglestone (Bass/Vocals), Jacques Moran (Keys) and Peter Dean (Drums/Vocals) becoming an instant success, in their home town, due to their incredible indie-pop sound. The combination of energy, power ballads and lyrically masterful tracks helped to separate them from many of the acts in the current music scene.

In their first year, the band made debut appearances at Reading and V Festival as well as sharing the stage alongside the likes of Everything Everything, The Kabeedies, The Xcerts and many more.

Earlier this year, the band included Jake Alder (Guitar/Vocals) to the line-up. The addition has seen the act take a new direction with the quintet now being described as ‘noisy-pop’.

Jake states, “My addition seems to reflect best when we’re live, where I increase the live performance intensity. This gives Sam the flexibility to focus on his vocals and wowing the crowds. I’ve contributed, where necessary, on the new record and have helped Sam to elaborate his ideas to create some catchy songs that people should enjoy“.

Sarabeth Tucek releases single Smie for No One

Sarabeth Tucek
Smile For No One
New single released September 12

Formats:
Download (SCR031D)

Tracklisting:
1. Smile For No One
2. Something/Anything
3. Get Well Soon
(In My Room Demo)

Producer:
Luther Russell

Sarabeth Tucek releases her new single, ‘Smile For No One’, via Sonic Cathedral Recordings on September 12.

It is the second single to be taken from Sarabeth’s album ‘Get Well Soon’ which, upon its release in April, was acclaimed by everyone from The Times and Q magazine to the Daily Mirror and The Quietus. It was that rare thing, an album that appealed to people of all musical persuasions, its title track becoming something of a panacea for the general malaise of modern life.

However, the subject matter of ‘Get Well Soon’ was actually very personal to Sarabeth, the album being based around her reaction to the death of her father some years previously. ‘Smile For No One, with its countrified harmonies (courtesy of producer and multi-instrumentalist Luther Russell), represents one of the lighter moments on the album, at least musically.

“I wanted the feel of the music to belie the lyrical content,” says Sarabeth of the track, before going on to explain how the prominent piano was added as an “homage to Cat Stevens”. She was introduced to Stevens’ classic 1970 album ‘Tea For The Tillerman’ by her mother and it has been a long-time favourite.

The B-sides available on the new digital-only single release include a short and bittersweet new song called ‘Something/Anything’, which was apparently written and recorded without any prior knowledge of Todd Rundgren’s 1972 double album of the same name. The other track is the ‘In My Room Demo’ version of the title track of ‘Get Well Soon’, which adds a chiming guitar refrain that makes the song sound even more like some long-lost outtake from Big Star’s ‘Third/Sister Lovers’.

Sarabeth Tucek plays the following live dates in September:

September 1 – London – St Pancras Old Church
September 2 – Dorset – End Of The Road Festival (Local Stage)
September 3 – Liverpool – St Bride’s Church
September 4 – Newcastle – Cluny 2
September 5 – Glasgow – Captain’s Rest
September 6 – Leeds – Oporto
September 7 – Manchester – Castle Hotel
September 9 – Oxford – St Columba’s Church
