Rihanna headlines Hackney Weekend 2012

Singer Rihanna has been announced as the headline act at a free weekend festival in east London in June. The Rudebox singer will perform on 24 June at Radio 1's Hackney Festival, to be held at Hackney Marshes.

More than 100 artists - including rapper Jay-Z, Florence + the Machine and Tinie Tempah - will perform on six stages over the weekend. Those who pre-registered for the event will be able to apply for up to two of 100,000 tickets on March 25 and 26.

Tickets are free but there will be a handling fee. Registration closed on 19 March.

The weekend is part of the London 2012 Festival and the majority of tickets have been reserved for those from Hackney and the other five Olympic boroughs.

Ticket registration has now closed but those who have registered will be able to apply for tickets at 11am on Sunday March 25 and at 4pm on Monday March 26 at bbc.co.uk/radio1

Other acts performing include Swedish House Mafia, Emeli Sande, Calvin Harris, Nero, David Guetta, Deadmau5, The Maccabees, The Ting Tings, Dappy, Chase and Status, Professor Green, Michael Kiwanuka, Labrinth and Plan B.

Beyonce and Jay-Z at Coachella Music Festival


The Coachella Music Festival is well underway and on Friday night rapper Jay-Z brought the house down with a guest appearance from his beautiful wife Beyonce.

Beyonce was not on the list of performers to appear this weekend, making it a nice surprise for concert goers.

Before his wife took to the stage, Jay-Z performed a number of hits including; “Run This Town” and “99 Problems.”

The pair performed a version of “Young Forever” as part of Jay-Z’s encore, ending in a massive firework display.

Other bands scheduled to perform at the festival include; Vampire Weekend, BoB, The xx, and LCD Soundsystem.

The festival is an annual event held in California and brings together some of the best musical talent the country has to offer.

Missy Elliott, Friendly Fires and Taylor Hawkins join Wireless Festival bill




Missy Elliott, Friendly Fires, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins' side project and Tinie
Tempah have been added to the bill for this year's Wireless Festival in London.

Hockey, Chase and Status, Chipmunk, Drake, Professor Green, Neon Hitch, Bluey Robinson and Wale have also been added to this year's three day event which takes place from July 2-4.

They join the likes of Jay-Z, Pink, The Big Pink, Lily Allen, The Temper Trap and The Ting Tings.
