Grammy nominated artist Jessie J is giving fans the chance to be featured on her YouTube channel alongside her official music videos thanks to a partnership with Sympler – the new video-mixing app.

Fans are encouraged to remix the music video for Jessie’s latest hit single Burnin’ Up using instrumentals and acapella vocal samples from the video, which also features 2 Chainz. Entrants of all skill levels can take part as the app is easy and fun to use – requiring no more than some rhythm and the desire to play.

The contest runs from November 18th until December 8th when one of the videos will be chosen at random to be rewarded with a special place on Jessie J’s official YouTube channel and its creator and two runner-ups will also receive a signed CD, official “Sweet Talker” t-shirt and poster from the singer.

In April Johnette Napolitano, the charismatic singer/songwriter/ founder of Concrete Blonde, will make her first visit to the UK in nearly a decade, performing a series of acoustic shows that will feature songs from her entire career and showcasing her incredible voice.

Concrete Blonde came howling out the chute in 1986 and knocked out three classic albums by 1990: Concrete Blonde, Free and Bloodletting. She’s now touring on her own – just an acoustic guitar and her songs, passages read from Rough Mix against projected backdrops of original and found art – and that voice.

Liverpool based Drum and  Bass label Sleep Less Records celebrates first birthday with competition to sign an unknown local artist

Liverpool record label Sleep Less Records has launched a competition to sign up a new drum and bass producer.

As part of a one year birthday celebration for Sleep Less Records, the independent record label - set up by former BBC Introducing artist MC SAS - the competition is a unique opportunity to be backed by a record label for an unsigned producer.

Talented producers can use music sharing website SoundCloud to upload their latest tracks and become part of the UK’s most exciting underground record label.

Once the biggest and best tracks are uploaded entrants will be able to promote their tracks on Facebook and other social media websites. The more buzz artists can create around their entries the more likely judges at the label will choose the producer for round two of the competition.

The competition is live now and the first round will run until the 20th May 2013. Successful entries in the first round will be invited to submit another track for the second round, with the second round’s winning track being released for free download.

MC SAS and the team at Sleep Less Records will then work with the signed act to produce and distribute a track later in 2013 as one of its fully signed drum and bass producers.

MC SAS is excited about the prospect of welcoming a new producer to the label: “We’re delighted to be offering a producer the chance to work with Sleep Less Records. We expect the standards to be high for our anniversary competition so entrants should make sure they only upload their best tracks.”

Fans can listen to the latest tracks as they are entered into the competition on the Sleep Less Records Facebook page or by joining the SoundCloud group.

OMbeatbattles.com launch competition starting January 1st 2013

On the 1st of January 2013 OMbeatbattles will launch aimed exclusively at producers and beat makers. A paid competition, the entrants will receive a pre selected sample which they will compose and construct around. When all compositions have been submitted a panel of judges will pick the top 100 based on a “5 point criteria” and post to the brands social feeds and main website. All entrants are then responsible to gain as many votes as possible for their piece, whilst also receiving votes from the exposure gained through the brand itself. The most votes’ wins, with prizes that are exclusively geared towards producers needs (recording equipment, mixing equipment, studio sessions, and online advice).

The alternate aim is to also build and expand on existing networks to gain more exposure and collaborative efforts between the entrants. The recently sold out festival Kendal Calling is thrilled to announce details of its ever-growing Real Ale Festival, now in its 4^th year. The Real Ale tent has become one of the most popular areas at the festival selling out its stocks every year and Kendal Calling have teamed up with some great breweries to offer some of the finest ales to whet your whistle.

Jamie Smith, Festival Manager & Real Ale Festival Organiser says: “We just had to bring it back this year and not just because we enjoy sampling all the beers! We’ve had great feedback from festival-goers since its inception in 2009 and we’ve worked closely with the breweries to bring the price of a pint down from £3.80 to £3.50 this year which we are absolutely delighted about.”

This summer’s explosive new music festival WOWfest (17th – 19th August, Isle of Wight), along with 13 other top UK festivals hosts the 2012 winner of the UK's largest battle of the bands music competition, Live and Unsigned.

Live and Unsigned auditions started in January leading up to the National Finals at the UK’s Largest indoor music festival, Live Fest (14th July, 02 Arena). Paul Rudd, one of the TOP 50 DJ’s in the UK, and labelled as “one of dance music’s hottest new DJ’S” [Richard Lee, Mastermix UK], has now been selected by judges to compete in the Unsigned One-to-Watch category of MTV’s ‘Brand New For 2012’ competition.

He is one of the few DJs to be selected in this initial list, and has the chance to follow in the footsteps of Jessie J, Tinie Tempah and Lady Gaga, to win the backing of the world’s biggest music TV channel, MTV. Voting for the competition opened on 9^th December and will close on 8^th January 2012. The shortlist of 10 acts who receive the highest votes during this time will be featured in special on-air MTV spotlights as well as having their music streamed via www.mtv.co.uk

Paul, 32, from Dartford, Kent, has been steadily building his reputation as a world class DJ since winning 'Search for a Star' at the Capital Radio Cafe in Leicester Square with Neil Fox and gaining his first residency at Galaxy Nightclub, London. From there he has wowed clubbers across Europe with his live performances at various high profile clubs, as well top dance events in Ibiza including DJing with the world famous Hed Kandi. Paul is currently working in Britannia Row Studios, London with legendary music producer Tony Matthew (Soul 2 Soul, Kylie, JLS) on his debut album, ‘Sound Of London’.

Paul’s most recent single ‘More Amore’ is the track championing him in the MTV ‘Brand New for 2012’ competition, with an incessant piano motif, layered with weighty beats and heavy drops, it sounds like an old school club classic but with a modern twist.
