Sheffields This City Limits release video for single Amputate

This City Limits is an alternative rock band from Sheffield, England, formed in January 2013.

The band draws its influences from a contemporary wave of American punk rock that includes bands such as Rise Against, Against Me! and Polar Bear Club, and from British alt-‐rock groups such as We Are The Ocean and Mallory Knox.

The music is characterised by loud, aggressive drumming, distorted guitars and melodic vocals.

In February 2014, the band booked in to Soundhouse Studios, Sheffield to begin work on their second E.P. Two singles, ‘Amputate’ and ‘Colourblind’, will be released with accompanying videos in April and May.

In the coming months, the band is also booked to play shows at 360 Club in Leeds and Tramlines Festival in Sheffield.

The band consists of lead vocalist Will Turner, bassist Ed Thornton, drummer Sam Hamer, and lead guitarist George Turner. Brothers Will and George came together in January 2013 to begin writing original material, and were quickly joined by Ed, who’s experience playing heavy metal and acoustic folk immediately added another dimension to the sound.

Sam was recruited several months later, and provided the final element of the band’s style.

Since releasing their well-‐received debut E.P. Brittle Brass and Broken Bone in October 2013, the band have played a long list of shows, mostly in the Yorkshire area.

In February and March 2014, This City Limits also played several gigs as headline act for Fourth City Promotions and Who Cares Music.

This City Limits are currently unsigned, but are looking for management.

Such Sights announce release of their debut video single for In Her Name

Sheffield’s (UK) punk fuelled alternative/metal outfit ‘Such Sights’ announce the release of their debut video single for ‘ In Her Name’. Taken from the bands infectiously appealing -‘Where Hell Begins’ EP, the young upcoming British rock act are gearing up for a string of releases this year and live shows across the UK.

Already starting to make waves across the north of England, the South Yorkshire bred quintet - hit listeners hard with an exciting fusion of alternative rock, pop punk and metal. Influenced by bands such as Taking Back Sunday. The Bled and Comeback Kid – the fast paced, hard riffing and distinctly anthemic ‘Such Sights’ are quickly building their reputation as a live band exploding with raw energy and potential. 2014 could well see yet another Sheffield act with the skills to achieve great heights.

The Gentlemen release New Single This Is Where

The Gentlemen New Single This Is Where

The Gentlemen release New Single This Is Where

The Gentlemen are a Sheffield-based four-piece who have kicked off 2014 by being confirmed as the support act for The Feeling on their UK tour. They’ll be playing 11 dates with the BRIT-nominated band by entertaining masses with their energetic live shows and their characteristic British sense of humour.

This Is Where is a long anticipated new single, which irresistibly draws the listener in from the word ‘go’. The band contribute an airy, echoey sound that will bring to mind OneRepublic’s smash hit Apologize. It gracefully underscores the soaring vocals of their lead vocalist Nicholas.

On first listen the song seems very straight forward. Yet, its eye for detail in almost every department is exquisite as it reveals itself on further listening. The track’s production consists of beautifully recorded dreamy guitar riffs, steadily performed drumbeats, edgy synths and hooky vocal lines that are clearly made for listening, feeling and humming along.

This Is Where is a very well- crafted and intricate track which will be available for sale and download on Sunday 27th April.

Detestival announce second wave of acts for 2014

Following a stellar 2013 event, the Sheffield-based festival DETESTIVAL (in association with Bulliet Bourbon) returns for a second year with an extended three-day event on April 18th-20th 2014.

Originally founded and curated by the cult Yorkshire ‘death blues’ duo Wet Nuns in 2013, last year’s festival saw a sold-out two-day event featuring the likes of Toy, Hookworms, Temples, Wolf People, Bo Ningen and John J Presley. The 2014 edition now returns with three nights of decadence and a line-up of some of the most progressive and exciting acts around.

The second round of artists for 2014 have now been announced. Joining previously announced headliners Sleepy Sun and Turbowolf, everyone's favourite psych-extraordinaire MJ (of Hookworms) will be back with new super-group Menace Beach. Accompanying news of Menace Beach is the addition of some of this year's most exciting rising acts including That Fucking Tank, Mike Hughes, Cult of Dom Keller, Wild Smiles, Rumpus, Seize The Chair, Baba Naga, and Mistoa Polsta, who all join previously confirmed bands PINS, Slaves, Lola Colt, God Damn, Brown Brogues, Vladimir, Big Difference, Bad Guys and Jazz Hands.

Festival curator Rob Graham said of this year’s event; “This year we're back and we're bigger. Same as last year we stuck to the idea of trying to put a line-up together that was populated with acts that we like, both on an artistic level as well as personal one.

Since last years event we've seen: Toy better their first record with the beautiful and brave 'Join The Dots', Hookworms go from playing mid-bill to playing the final ATP at camber sands and releasing probably the album of the year, and Temples support the fucking Rolling Stones at Hyde park. Here's to another great weekend of bands that will blow everyone's minds and make waves!

Detestival takes place at The Queen’s Social Club in Sheffield over the Easter weekend of April 18th-20th 2014. Weekend tickets are on-sale now for just £30 in advance from harleylive.co.uk/ticket-shop, seetickets, com, gigantic.com and sivtickets.com.

The confirmed acts for this year’s event so far are; Sleepy Sun, Turbowolf, PINS, Slaves, God Damn, Lola Colt, Menace Beach, Brown Brogues, Vladimir, That Fucking Tank, Mike Hughes, Cult of Dom Keller, Wild Smiles, Rumpus, Seize The Chair, Baba Naga, Mistoa Polsta, Big Difference, Bad Guys and Jazz Hands.

High Hazels unveil debut single, Summer Rain, from forthcoming EP

High Hazels unveil debut single, Summer Rain, from forthcoming EP

High Hazels unveil debut single, Summer Rain, from forthcoming EP

Drawing on a love and appreciation for the timeless charms of Britain’s great northern songwriters and poets, High Hazels are a young quartet from Handsworth in Sheffield who release their debut EP ‘In The Half Light’ on 7th April.

High Hazels resemble the end of the family line in northern boy groups: groups who horde priceless guitars but can’t afford the bus fare home, groups who rehearse dry George Harrison barbs in the bathroom mirror, groups who dress in boys’ brigade chic, in thrall to the boys of yesterday – The Quarrymen, The Pale Fountains, The Smiths.

James Leesley is a melancholy balladeer backed by Scott Howes’ vintage guitar reverberating tenderly and brothers Paul and Anthony on bass and drums.

With a togetherness that only blooms from brotherhood and childhood friendship, their shared love for music is the root of their everyday creativity and ambition to achieve that of their influences, in producing music that stands the test of time.

The quartet’s shimmering guitar music and melody-rich songs will soon reverberate from stages around the country while on tour with The Crookes – dates below.

The debut EP follows last year’s seven-inch ‘Hearts are Breaking’ which Clash described as: “All lilting song writing and stark directness, it's a vision of fluorescent lights reflected in a puddle of rain water.”

The four songs on ‘In The Half Light’ are steeped in the rich heritage of Northern Soul and underpinned with a brooding psychedelia that owes as much to the influence of Washington quintet The Walkmen as to their home city’s crooning Godfather Richard Hawley.
For years, the only cultural shrine in Handsworth was the Ballifield semi where Ken Patten recorded The Future and Pulp in his Studio Electrophonique while his wife made the brews downstairs. A few streets over, a new story gathers pace, guitars chime in back bedrooms and, in terminus bus shelters, cold hearts start to thaw.

‘In The Half Light’ is released on Heist Or Hit Records on 7th April on limited edition 10" vinyl and digital download.

Simon Townshend UK Tour 2013

Touring the UK this summer, Simon Townshend is a familiar name, with an original sound. Straight from the lineage of a musical family, Simon is also the brother of The Who legend, Pete Townshend and regularly plays with The Who and numerous other established acts.

Simon has been recording and performing since the age of nine, when he was recruited to add vocals to The Who classic, Tommy. A solo artist in his own right, he has successfully released solo albums as well as one with the band Casbah Club (featuring Bruce Foxton – The Jam and Mark Brzezicki – Big Country).

Last year Simon released his finest and most impactful solo recording to date, ‘Looking Out, Looking In’ and is now set to tour the UK, visiting O2 Academy venues in London, Sheffield, Newcastle and Liverpool.

“'I'm looking forward to getting back out on the road with my amazing band in June to support the release of my next album, ‘Denial’” says Simon Townshend. “This album, of all my work, has the broadest appeal. The songs are inspired and the recording was a breeze. Mark Brzezicki (Big Country, The Cult) features on drums, Phil Spalding (Elton John, Toyah) on bass and Tony Lowe (Julien Clerc) additional electric guitars. There will be limited edition signed vinyl, too. Come out and enjoy some modern rock with a difference.”

UnsignedRadio.biz

UnsignedRadio.biz, a Radio Station exclusively for Unsigned Acts

www.unsignedradio.biz is an Internet Radio Station that broadcasts to the World from Sheffield UK .

Our mission is to provide a vehicle to showcase the work of, as yet, unsigned artists, bands and songwriters.

We know that there are 1000’s of talented musicians, singers and songwriters all over the world who’s music is totally ignored by mainstream broadcasters.

It’s not because the material is rubbish.  Rather it’s because it’s not being pushed by recognised record labels and most mainstream radio stations just can’t be bothered to take the time and trouble to make their own judgements about unknown acts - they won't take the risk of playing something unfashionable, experimental or different.

ORIGINAL UNSIGNED MUSIC 24/7

So, UnsignedRadio.biz fills this niche - it gives genuine music fans a place where they can hear original music and judge for themselves.

It provides a place for self-promoted artists to get their music played and the power of the internet means that the music can be heard worldwide 24/7.

ALL GENRES - ALL LANGUAGES - WE PLAY DEMOS TOO !

UnsignedRadio.biz plays all Genres of music - anything from country to hip-hop,  from rock to reggae as long as it's Original not Covers and 'Unsigned'.

We play songs from all over the world in any language too.  And we are more than happy to play song demos from bands and songwriters as long as the audio quality is good.

Bands and songwriters should initially submit their one  BEST SONG via   http://www.unsignedradio.biz/submit.html

Dead Sons announce debut album The Hollers and The Hymns

Dead Sons The Hollers and The Hymns

Dead Sons announce debut album The Hollers and The Hymns

Jack knifed amongst the decaying wastelands of long forgotten industries, the black heart of the city breeds life into sharp, tongued souls and sex room vixens. Over the roar of passing pistons a doom cloud gathers awaiting the monsoon of cocaine bandits.

In a disused pay phone all that is lost can be seen strewn across the walls, a dick tease snake fight unearths an underground typhoon of abandoned love. Pulsating rhythms create a smoke screen haze that leaves a legion of cut, throat marauders to roam the streets with death stare haste. A love gun smokes with danger as a shit storm erupts in the cold night air. Temptations can be heard as headboards break and blindfolds cover the eyes of strangers.

A landslide of wet dreams leaves those alone aching for more while a brain freeze wind blows sordid tales of lust and revenge through the concrete alleyways……………Boom Fucking Boom. Hypnotic howls, death drum rolls; organ buries deep within whilst melody embraces and enshrouds, bass moves mountains and guitars induce panic. This is disorientation; this is ‘DEAD SONS’.

Dead Sons were introduced to the world in July 2010 to a capacity hometown crowd. The gig marked the beginning of a whirlwind journey for the band, which has taken them far and wide. From theatres to vintage shops, stadiums to cellars, brandishing their unprecedented sound and demonic, powerful stage presence.

The band have honed their unique style both on the road and locked away in the weary industrial surroundings of their self-built studio. They continue to grow as one, exploring all dimensions of song writing and noise making. Not afraid to push the limits and always striving for the perfect sound on this their debut album ‘The Hollers and The Hymns’.
