High Hazels unveil debut single, Summer Rain, from forthcoming EP
High Hazels unveil debut single, Summer Rain, from forthcoming EP
High Hazels resemble the end of the family line in northern boy groups: groups who horde priceless guitars but can’t afford the bus fare home, groups who rehearse dry George Harrison barbs in the bathroom mirror, groups who dress in boys’ brigade chic, in thrall to the boys of yesterday – The Quarrymen, The Pale Fountains, The Smiths.
James Leesley is a melancholy balladeer backed by Scott Howes’ vintage guitar reverberating tenderly and brothers Paul and Anthony on bass and drums.
With a togetherness that only blooms from brotherhood and childhood friendship, their shared love for music is the root of their everyday creativity and ambition to achieve that of their influences, in producing music that stands the test of time.
The quartet’s shimmering guitar music and melody-rich songs will soon reverberate from stages around the country while on tour with The Crookes – dates below.
The debut EP follows last year’s seven-inch ‘Hearts are Breaking’ which Clash described as: “All lilting song writing and stark directness, it's a vision of fluorescent lights reflected in a puddle of rain water.”
The four songs on ‘In The Half Light’ are steeped in the rich heritage of Northern Soul and underpinned with a brooding psychedelia that owes as much to the influence of Washington quintet The Walkmen as to their home city’s crooning Godfather Richard Hawley.
For years, the only cultural shrine in Handsworth was the Ballifield semi where Ken Patten recorded The Future and Pulp in his Studio Electrophonique while his wife made the brews downstairs. A few streets over, a new story gathers pace, guitars chime in back bedrooms and, in terminus bus shelters, cold hearts start to thaw.
‘In The Half Light’ is released on Heist Or Hit Records on 7th April on limited edition 10" vinyl and digital download.

Simon Townshend UK Tour 2013
Simon Townshend UK Tour 2013
Simon has been recording and performing since the age of nine, when he was recruited to add vocals to The Who classic, Tommy. A solo artist in his own right, he has successfully released solo albums as well as one with the band Casbah Club (featuring Bruce Foxton – The Jam and Mark Brzezicki – Big Country).
Last year Simon released his finest and most impactful solo recording to date, ‘Looking Out, Looking In’ and is now set to tour the UK, visiting O2 Academy venues in London, Sheffield, Newcastle and Liverpool.
“'I'm looking forward to getting back out on the road with my amazing band in June to support the release of my next album, ‘Denial’” says Simon Townshend. “This album, of all my work, has the broadest appeal. The songs are inspired and the recording was a breeze. Mark Brzezicki (Big Country, The Cult) features on drums, Phil Spalding (Elton John, Toyah) on bass and Tony Lowe (Julien Clerc) additional electric guitars. There will be limited edition signed vinyl, too. Come out and enjoy some modern rock with a difference.”

UnsignedRadio.biz, a Radio Station exclusively for Unsigned Acts
UnsignedRadio.biz, a Radio Station exclusively for Unsigned Acts
Our mission is to provide a vehicle to showcase the work of, as yet, unsigned artists, bands and songwriters.
We know that there are 1000’s of talented musicians, singers and songwriters all over the world who’s music is totally ignored by mainstream broadcasters.
It’s not because the material is rubbish. Rather it’s because it’s not being pushed by recognised record labels and most mainstream radio stations just can’t be bothered to take the time and trouble to make their own judgements about unknown acts - they won't take the risk of playing something unfashionable, experimental or different.
ORIGINAL UNSIGNED MUSIC 24/7
So, UnsignedRadio.biz fills this niche - it gives genuine music fans a place where they can hear original music and judge for themselves.
It provides a place for self-promoted artists to get their music played and the power of the internet means that the music can be heard worldwide 24/7.
ALL GENRES - ALL LANGUAGES - WE PLAY DEMOS TOO !
UnsignedRadio.biz plays all Genres of music - anything from country to hip-hop, from rock to reggae as long as it's Original not Covers and 'Unsigned'.
We play songs from all over the world in any language too. And we are more than happy to play song demos from bands and songwriters as long as the audio quality is good.
Bands and songwriters should initially submit their one BEST SONG via http://www.unsignedradio.biz/submit.html

Dead Sons announce debut album The Hollers and The Hymns
Dead Sons announce debut album The Hollers and The Hymns
Jack knifed amongst the decaying wastelands of long forgotten industries, the black heart of the city breeds life into sharp, tongued souls and sex room vixens. Over the roar of passing pistons a doom cloud gathers awaiting the monsoon of cocaine bandits. In a disused pay phone all that is lost can be seen strewn across the walls, a dick tease snake fight unearths an underground typhoon of abandoned love. Pulsating rhythms create a smoke screen haze that leaves a legion of cut, throat marauders to roam the streets with death stare haste. A love gun smokes with danger as a shit storm erupts in the cold night air. Temptations can be heard as headboards break and blindfolds cover the eyes of strangers.
A landslide of wet dreams leaves those alone aching for more while a brain freeze wind blows sordid tales of lust and revenge through the concrete alleyways……………Boom Fucking Boom. Hypnotic howls, death drum rolls; organ buries deep within whilst melody embraces and enshrouds, bass moves mountains and guitars induce panic. This is disorientation; this is ‘DEAD SONS’.
Dead Sons were introduced to the world in July 2010 to a capacity hometown crowd. The gig marked the beginning of a whirlwind journey for the band, which has taken them far and wide. From theatres to vintage shops, stadiums to cellars, brandishing their unprecedented sound and demonic, powerful stage presence.
The band have honed their unique style both on the road and locked away in the weary industrial surroundings of their self-built studio. They continue to grow as one, exploring all dimensions of song writing and noise making. Not afraid to push the limits and always striving for the perfect sound on this their debut album ‘The Hollers and The Hymns’.
